After having settled down for a few more days, it was time for Noah and I to start school. My brother was more excited than I had ever seen him, but to say that I felt the same would be the greatest of lies. I had never enjoyed school, despite being a nerd, but it was always full of noisy teenagers, hormonal guys and girls and full blown sluts. But I was forced to go, despite my evident dislike.
I decided to wear something simple nothing that would scream shy and antisocial, nor anything too revealing. I had bought enough clothes for Noah and myself to have decently varied wardrobes. I still had a good amount of money left, but I wouldn't be able to rely on it forever. I advertised for a babysitting job on the net and was still waiting for answers.
After having dropped Noah to his school, I went to C.F.C High, where I would end my scholarity.
When I entered the corridors, they were already packed with people. Students chatting and fooling around and some kissing against lockers, which was pretty disgusting. Nobody paid attention to me, and I was glad.
I walked towards my locker and started preparing my stuff for the first class when, suddenly, the room fell silent and footsteps echoed through the room. I turned around, perplexed by the lack of activity, and saw him.
His dark brown hair was styled back messily, his frame towering. Everyone was riveted on him as he walked, flanked by two equally good-looking guys. His whole aspect screamed of arrogance and everyone stared with respect. Some girls were looking at him seductively but he ignored them, as if he was way above the rest. One of his friends seemed to have noticed me and flashed me a dimpled smile. I rolled my eyes and turned away. Guys and their hormones...
When I came into my first class, I was about a few minutes early, which was perfect since I wouldn't make an awkward entrance on my first day. I was pretty shy in general and showing myself off would be extremely embarrassing.
I played Candy Crush while everyone filed in. I was obviously the odd one out as everyone stared at me weirdly. I mean, I wasn't bad-looking, my curly hair fell to my waist in light brown ringlets. My eyes were blue, framed by long eyelashes. But I was never one to flaunt everything I had using layers of make up or revealing clothes. I would much rather be comfortable.
"Good morning everyone. We have a new student in class today. Miss Evans will be joining us as from now," all the students turned to look at me and I hid the blush that threatened to show by allowing my hair to fall in a curtain at the sides of my face.
As if on cue, the door barged open and the three boys from earlier barged in, gaining all the attention. I rolled my eyes. Talk about a dramatic entrance.
"And may I know why you're late, Mr. Grey?" the teacher asked in an annoyed voice.
"No, you may not," the handsome guy from this morning answered curtly, and the whole class erupted in laughter. Even I couldn't fight off the smile that pulled at the corner of my lips.
"Know that I do not tolerate disrespect, Ryder," he seethed , getting up from his seat. Ryder finally turned around to face him, his grey eyes cold. If looks could kill, the teacher would have been six feet under by now. His stance wavered slightly.
"Do you not, now?" Ryder asked, his deep voice ringing in the pindrop silence. I was pretty sure that the guy had pissed his pants by then.
"Either you go by my rules or you leave the class," the teacher says. The guy that had smiled at me in the corridor raised an eyebrow at him.
"Gladly," he said, making a move to leave.
"I was not talking to you, Parker," the teacher told him coldly, not breaking his eyes from Ryder's.
"You heard him," Ryder said and left with the other guys.
The only noise which followed was that of the door banging shut as they left...
