"Who am I?" Asked the man, though he didn't know how he could talk. But there was only darkness to reply.
"You are the father of men," the darkness answered.
"Who are you?" The man asked.
"I am God," the darkness replied.
And the man's eyes opened for the first time, and he saw God, and God looked like glimmering crystal armour, with sparks of light coursing through him like stars through an invisible river of glass. God was entirely transparent, but the light reflected and shone within him, making him glow.
"What did you make me for?" asked the father.
"I made you as I remade the world, and you are to fill it again with men," God said. "I will be your king on this earth, and you will serve me in everything I see fit."
There was a pause.
"I understand," the father finally replied.
"This is how it will be, for you and your children," God said with a finality.
And with that, the father closed his eyes.
