The three of them walked back to Megs house. "Im gonna go talk to mom, ill be back in a minute" Charles Wallace said, leaving Meg and Calvin alone together.
"You have an amazing house" Calvin eventually said. Meg looked up at her home. "Amazing is a bit of an overstatement" meg drily replied. Calvin laughed and grinned at her. Meg tried not to swoon for his laugh as he said "you know, you have really pretty hair". Meg looked at him, trying not to look into his bright blue eyes. "Please dont say that" she said. Calvin looked down awkwardly. "sorry".
Meg suddenly got the feeling she was being watched. As she looked up, she saw Veronica staring out of her window at them.
Meg quickly darted to the tree and whispered to Calvin "get over here now". Calvin looked around and saw veronica. "Oh are you embarrassed to be seen with me?" He smirked. Meg sighed frustratedly. "No but it should be the other way around now get over here. Please".
He slowly made his way over and leaned against the tree next to her until veronica left. As soon as she did, he turned to Meg, who found herself gazing at him.
Calvin took a deep breath and said "so before when I said I was just walking through the neighbourhood, I wasn't," he moved closer to meg "I just had this feeling I was supposed to go there so I did and I met you there." Calvin reached out and grabbed her hand.
Meg finally dared to look into his eyes and saw that he was looking into hers. "And im glad I did" Calvin finished. Meg felt an electricity pulsing through her veins.
Instinctively, they both leaned in slightly and Meg felt his lips lightly press against hers, then slightly harder. It felt so right that Meg never wanted it to end, but the back door of the house sprung open and the two jumped apart, though their fingers still locked together tightly.
Charles Wallace walked out of the door with Mrs. Who, the woman from the old house. Behind them, a woman dressed in white with long ginger hair floated down from the tree.
"Who are you?" Meg asked the strange lady, moving closer to Calvin. "Im Mrs. Whatsit," the woman replied, smiling. "You've already met Mrs. Who, and this is Mrs. Which" she said, gesturing to a woman 10x taller than a normal person who had appeared next to the house.
Mrs. Which smiled at Meg and Calvin. "Hello. You must be Meg. You're brothers told us all about you. And you're Calvin" she recapped.
"Meg," Mrs. Which continued, "there's something you need to know." Meg looked at Calvin and gripped his hand tighter. "You're fathers still alive, and we need your help to rescue him".
