The first thing that crossed my mind was Carl and mom. I had to get back over there. I backed up until my back hit a tree, I quickly slashed the walker in the head. Blood splattered all over me and I cringed. The second walker fell on top of me and I scrambled to keep it away from me. I saw another walker coming up behind him and my eyes widened. This is going to be the last of me, this is it. I'm gonna die. I wrestled the walker off of me and shuffled to the side and the other walker fell on top of him, I went to grab my knife and quickly realized that it wasn't there. "Shit shit shit shit.." I mumbled. I grabbed the nearest rock to me and slammed it into the walkers head. Over and over again.
I could hear screams and gun shots in the distance. I tried to outrun the last walker but he was fast and I was starting to get tired. I tripped over a stump and fell on my back, I screamed as the last walker fell on top of me. I used one of my hands to hold him back and the other to search for something sharp. I grabbed the nearest stick and bashed it into his head. After he was dead I lay there a second, covered in blood trying desperately to catch my breath. I panted and my chest heaved up and down. I could hear crying and screaming still from camp. Then I heard my name being yelled, I must not be to far. I slowly got to my feet, walking toward the light source. I walked into view and I saw that everyone was back. The first person I saw was Glenn, "Jess..." He said worriedly. My parents eyes snapped towards me, "Oh my god.." My mom muttered running over to me.
"Are you okay? What happened?" She asked, the entire group was staring and I couldn't help but be in shock. "I - I saw a walker. I killed it then more just kept coming.." I said holding my tears back. My mom and dad both pulled me into a tight hug. My dad checked me over to make sure I wasn't bit or scratched, which I wasn't.
"You're never to go anywhere alone ever again. Do you understand?" My dad asked. I nodded my head and Carol brought me a towel. I wrapped myself up in it and sat on the ground. That's when I realized that Andrea was crying over Amys body.
"How did this happen?" I asked, tears starting to well in my blue eyes. My mom just pulled me into a hug, knowing that Amy and I were close. I sat by the fire all night, not getting any sleep. I stayed in the same position with the towel wrapped around me. I smelt disgusting because of the walker blood but all I could bring myself to do was stare into the emptiness of the flames from the fire.
Once the sun rose, I walked down to the lake to wash off. Last night almost didn't seem real because it happened so fast. My dad made sure that someone went with me down at the lake but I didn't pay any attention to who it was. Once I was done washing off I wrapped a towel around myself and got dressed into clean clothes. I brushed my hair out and let it hang down my back. I glanced up and saw Daryl sitting on a rock, cleaning his crossbow. He looked up and we locked eyes, "You didn't have to come down and keep an eye on me yenno.."
"Actually I did, your dad wanted me too." He said in his gruff voice. I blushed slightly but quickly looked away so he wouldn't see. "Well shows over." I replied and he snickered, still sitting on the rock.
"Is it still a mess back at camp?" I asked, changing the subject. He shook his head, still focused on the crossbow.
"I hope we leave this dump."
"And go where? There's no where left to go." I said. He glanced up at me and then back down, "To hell if I know, but we ain't safe up here."
I sighed, knowing he was right. I squinted in the sunlight and climbed to my feet. "I'm gonna head back" I said pointing up the hill. He gave me a slight nod and I walked away, this man was so hard to talk too. I made sure to sway my slim hips while I walked away just in case he was watching. Once I returned up the hill most of everything was packed up. My dad and Shane were having some type of debate as I walked past them to Carl who was coloring by the fire. I ruffled his hair and went over to my mom, "What's the plan?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips. She sighed, "Well if they will ever come to a consensus then we'll know." She said waving her hand at Shane and dad.
