On the road once again. We were coasting down the highway. I laid my head on the window and watched as the sky grew darker. It was getting late and we were running extremely low on gas. I saw the RV turn into a small neighborhood. Daryl followed them and shut the engine off to the truck. I glanced up at him, and his blue eyes locked with mine.

"Ya okay?" He asked. I nodded my head and gave him a small smile. There were only five houses and we could easily split up and look for supplies. I shivered at the cold when I got out of the truck. I shut the door and rubbed my hands up and down my arms trying desperately to stay warm. The group was gathered by the Rv, Daryl and I walked up to them waiting for direction.

"So I say we stay here for the night, we can scavenge what we can and call it a night?" Shane said.

Everyone nodded and got in small groups to check out the houses. I stayed with Daryl, following him in the house in the far corner. He tapped his crossbow on the window. I stayed quiet but kept my knife at a ready position just in case. Daryl slowly let the door open and it creaked until it hit the wall inside. The house was almost pitch black inside. I gulped a tinge of nervousness running through me. Daryl walked in first crossbow at a ready. I followed after him he checked through the down stairs then wandered upstairs to check it out. I walked straight to the kitchen and opened the cabinets searching for anything useful. I found five cans of soup and a four pack of peaches. I stuffed it into the back pack. I checked the bathroom and grabbed toothpaste. I wandered upstairs to check it out. There were four bedrooms. I opened one bedroom and it was what looked like a nursery. But there was stuff thrown everywhere and blood smeared on the walls. I gulped and shut the door. I leaned my back up against it and clenched my eyes shut. I tried to push away the terrible thoughts. I heard footsteps and instantly looked up, I was met with the familiar blue.

"Don't go in there.." I said walking to the next bed room. It looked like the parents room so I rummaged through the drawers trying to find warm clothes that we can bundle up in for the night. I grabbed a few sweatshirts, shirts and pants. I went into the next room and found a teen girls room. The walls were a light grey color and the bed was a bright pink. I smiled, a typical girly girls room. I grabbed some markers that I found and paper for the kids. I also found some CDs for the car, and I found some cute clothes that would fit me perfectly. I grabbed a few extra blankets and pillows as well.

I walked down stairs and Daryl was waiting sitting on the couch. "We could always stay in here, yenno" He said, his voice gruff. "Maybe we should find the biggest house and all stay the night in it?" I suggested. He nodded and we both walked out of the home to find the rest of the group. I wandered up to my mom who was talking with Carol. "Where's dad and Shane?" I asked. "They're checking out that last house and then I think we're gonna stay together in one." She said. I nodded, "Perfect that's what Daryl and I were thinking too."

She nodded but glanced between the two of us. I paid no attention and stood there a few minutes, waiting for dad and Shane. Once they walked over they pointed to the brown house that was right in the middle. We all grabbed our belongings and walked to the house. I set my stuff down in a corner because the four bedrooms were taken up. Dale had one, my parents and Carl had one. Carol and her daughter had one and then T dog, Shane and Glen shared the last one. That left me, Daryl and Andrea down stairs to fend for ourselves. Andrea called dibs on the couch so I made a bed on the floor. The carpet wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best either. I laid out a comforter on the ground and put my pillow at the top, I grabbed the two other blankets laying them across the bottom blanket.

I saw Daryl sitting by the window and I walked up to him. "Can we talk about it?" I asked, sitting down beside him. He didn't respond to me. I sighed, "Daryl if you wanna act like it never happened then fine but don't ignore me." I said, clearly irritated. I couldn't read his expression, it was just blank. Either he didn't care or he just didn't want to talk. I rolled my eyes getting up and walking over to my bed. I went into the bathroom to change, I put on a big sweatshirt and some leggings. I pulled my hair into a bun. In the dark I could barely see anything but I attempted to brush my teeth, then I walked back to my makeshift bed and crawled in. I pulled the covers over myself taking one last look at Daryl before closing my eyes.
