"Hey pretty girl, how's your day going?" A random dude pulled his stool up next to mine and whispered in my ear. His breath smelled of smoke and liquor.
"I'm not interested, sorry." I wince and look away from him. Why do all of the people I meet either have to be weird, or not interested?
Maya...
I take a sip of my beer and sigh. Maya,a girl I like who came into my workplace to say hi. How did she know I work at Walmart though? I think of what I was wearing that day, it was my favorite sweater and.... was I wearing my name tag?
"That's what you are gonna sound like when your in bed with me. I promise you... you'll like it." The man whispers in my ear and makes a very sexual and awkward purring noise. I chug the rest of my beer down and leave the bar to go back to my apartment. Why did I even bother coming here? I could of thought about this at home.
"HEY WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" The man jumps off of his stool and rushes over to grab my shoulders. I start to panic. He is strong, who knows what he could do to me next?
"I... look i'm lesbian okay. I really don't want to..." I know i'm bisexual, but I know how guys react when I tell them that, but I never said this befor...
"YOUR WHAT!?" Obviously this guy is very drunk.
"I'm...."
"That is disgusting! Such a disgrace! Your kind is going to take up all of the women and leave us straight people for dead!" People start to turn their heads. I push the door open and run.
Why do people have to be like this?
Tears stream down my face. I take a couple back roads and pathways to make sure that he wasn't following me.
Suddenly I hear a car take a sudden stop right next to me.
"Are you Karen?" A young guy with bright blue hair rolls down his window and takes a second glance at my appearance. I have maskera running down my face and probably have the biggest armpit stains in the world right now.
"Yea I'm her." I take a deep breath and smile at the bright blue haired man.
"Ummmm listen I know it sounds very, very strange, but just... please take this number from a girl named.... Meagan or something? I don't know someone just told me to give you this." He hands me a folded up piece of paper with a phone number and some hearts next to it.
"Thanks?" I give the dude a strange stare. What is going on? Who is Megan????
"Yeah, um, have a nice day." He snaps up the window and speeds off into the distance. I stare at the piece of paper in my hand. Maybe whoever this Megan is will give me a ride.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another one?! I snatch up my phone in surprise as my weird dream slowly fades away.
I look down at the number that appears on the screen of my phone.
Unknown.
I slam the answer button faster than a prisoner running from three guards and a cheetah.
"Hello?"
"Hi, is this Megan?" A high pitched voice fills up the silence. I hold my breath.
"Uh nope, sorry I think you got the wrong number." I look at the floor in defeat. So it wasn't her after all...
"Oh! Oh my gosh i'm so sorry!" The voice cries.
"Yeah, it's fine." I mutter into the phone and hang up. It wasn't her. I melt into my pillows and blankets on my couch. I look at my clock and realize I haven't moved for over two hours... I don't want to get up.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
I pick up the phone once again. I swear to god if it's...
"Hello?" The small voice fills the room again.
"Wrong number." I roll my eyes, how can you call the wrong number twice? I moved my finger to hang up before...
"Wait! Wait! Don't hang up the phone!" The girl yells. I hope she isn't with anyone sleeping.
"Huh?"
"Okay, maybe you aren't Megan... The dude didn't seem to know what he was talking about anyway." She mumbled into the phone.
"I'm not Megan, My name is Maya." I said in an annoying sing song voice.
"...." Why is she so quiet all of the sudden?
"I knew it." She whispered.
"Knew what?" I stutter. Why does she sound so embarrassed all of the sudden?
"So Maya, how did you know I worked at Walmart?"
"WHAT?" NO WAY! NONONONONONO WAITTTTTTTTTTT I FORGOT ABOUT
"My boss gave me the message." She giggled. I could feel my face turn red.
"Karen?" How????
"Yep... um, I hate to ask this of you, but i'm lost from my house and I need a ride.... I thought this Megan would do it, but it would be even nicer if you could."
"Yeah! Of course! Where are you?"
"....."
"Don't tell me."
"I... don't know."
I start to laugh out loud. The poor girl, got lost in her own city.
"Wait turn on your location." I tell Karen, hopefully she knows what that is.
"Uhhhh, right, got it." A couple seconds later a bubble popped up right next to the park I run by.
"I'm coming!" I shout into the phone and jump out of my couch.
