Just a Simple Love Story

New Boss

"Alright guys, you have known that I am switching my job for a while now..." Jamie smiled at me. I can't believe it... today is her last day.

"Soooo I want to take time today to meet your new boss!" Jamie clapped her hands in excitement. I looked around at the other co-workers to see what they are feeling. Some gave a half hearted smile at Jamie. Some put their hands over their mouth so I could only see their eyes for emotion. They all looked.... sad. But we still all clapped our hands when the new boss walked in because Jamie deserves a way better job than this. She is the most sweetest, outgoing and the happiest person I ever met. She is going to have a good life without us. 

"I hope the new guy will be laid back." Sonya whispers in my ear. I nod and get a tiny bit more worried. She would pick a nice boss right?

"Here he is! Everyone please welcome Mario Wilmer!"  A tall slender man walked in the break room and nodded at us politely. 

"I have a bad feeling about him."  I whispered to Sonya. She had green eyes with specks of gold in them. I like her eyes. 

"Hello ladies and gentlemen." Mario gave a grim smile. "It will be a pleasure working with you all." 

I stare at Jamie. How and why did she choose this man? Jamie is a laid back easygoing person who will do anything to make people feel better. This man... just seems stuck up and nosy.

"Sooo Mr. Wilmer, are there any new policies you are planning to install after I.. bid my farewells?" Jamie bounced on her toes and held her hands behind her back. Poor Jamie. She was never known for staying still. And she is also not known for using professional words.

"Well I am planning to have more strict schedules and such." Mr. Wilmer waved his hands in the air like he was dismissing a unimportant peasant. "Also where I worked previously had some issues with PDA and homosexuality... Let's just say this place won't be same after you leave Miss. Scherdell. 

I swear he gave me an evil grin. What did I do?? Did he catch me whispering about him to Sonya? Had he seen me with Maya before? He seems like a major christian, no gay type of person. I have a bad feeling about this...

"Soooo what happened last night?" Dawn took a bite out of her sub and pointed at me.

"Me?" I looked around at my group of friends. Dawn, Orion, Bianca and Jason all grinned at each other and looked back at me. What was happening? What do they know?

"Come on Maya, you have been smiling all day!" Jason said.

"Andddd you are tired which means you stayed up late, which hello? You always are the first one to go to bed." Orion added.

"Did you meet someone!?!?" Bianca squealed. 

"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa," I put my hands up in defeat and laughed to myself. "First of all, am I really that easy to read?" 

"I KNEW IT!" Dawn jumped up on the picnic table bench and pumped her fists in the air. 

"What's she like?" Orion leaned on my shoulder and popped a cherry tomato in his mouth. 

"Is she cute?" Bianca cooed.

"How did you meet?" Jason said with his mouth full of rice and kimchi. 

I felt my face go red. They wouldn't understand how I feel about her. I just met this person! 

"Hey, we aren't dating yet!" I took a bite out of my taco and blushed. If only.....

"Awwwww. You soooo like her." Bianca said.

"I wish I could find someone like that!" Orion gushed.

"Jason can you hand me a napkin?" Dawn tried to grab one, but her hand just barely reached the pile of napkins. Instead of everyone bringing their own napkin, one person from the group would bring a pile each day. It is a weird tradition, but it works for us.

"Tell us how you met!" Jason yelled at me while handing a napkin to Dawn. 

"Well...  it all started when I was taking my morning run.." I told them everything. How she had a blue kitchen, how her laugh made my heart skip a beat, how I picked her up at nearly midnight because she was scared to wake anyone else up. 

"That.... that's beautiful." Orion wiped a fake tear off of his eye.

"Hey don't cry dude, you'll mess up your makeup." Jason punched Orion on the shoulder and laughed. When you first meet Jason he seems like just a normal Korean man, but once you get to know him he contains many secrets. Jason is the mom of this friend group. And Orion, is just... Orion. There is no other word to describe him than Orion because that's just who he is. 

"You guys are perfect for each other!!!!!!" Bianca squealed. Bianca is a happy go lucky romantic. She can be... a little much sometimes, but she is probably the nicest person I know.

"You should ask her out." Dawn grinned at me. Dawn is super chill and laid back with spurts of crazy in her. She can be a little too honest, but we love her all the same.

I looked at my now finished taco and smiled to myself. One day...
