Firefly bounded into Cyan's room, to see him talking with another dragon a few years older than her. While politely waiting for them to finish up their conversation, Firefly surveyed the space. It had the same scroll racks in the cave by the entrance, and there were two different sleeping platforms. One was a hammock similar to hers, but with a darker green shade and moss piled inside, and the other was something that looked like a pool carved into the rock, filled with moist mud, and next to that was a collection of reeds. Lying by the mud pool was a jug of water and a few towels, to make sure the room didn't get messed up when the MudWing, the dragon Firefly realized was talking to Cyan, got up from the mud. Firefly smiled to herself. She remembered Clay and Tsunami telling her about these new MudWing pools they had talked about. Tsunami and Clay were deciding whether or not to do them, and Tsunami said that if they did the students would have to clean up the mess they made themselves. Firefly, lost in her thoughts, snapped out of it when Cyan noticed her standing in the doorway and joyfully welcomed her. "Firefly!" he greeted her. "This is my clawmate, Bayou, and Bayou? This is my friend Firefly, who happens to be related to royalty, too." Firefly gave him a look. She turned to Bayou, the new MudWing, and said "Hi!" Observing him closer, Firefly could see that the MudWing had dark, deep, beautiful brown eyes. However, the eyes had a starry, faraway quality to them, and Firefly realized the MudWing was blind. Firefly had just realized what Cyan meant when he said she was royalty too, when she was pulled out of her thoughts again by Bayou saying "Oh, so you're Firefly. Cyan talked about you earlier." Firefly looked at Cyan with an amused/surprised expression, and he looked down and pushed his glasses up his nose, a nervous habit which Firefly found really adorable. She shifted her glance, with the impeccable feeling that Bayou was gazing at her, even though she was pretty sure he was blind. Firefly shook herself internally and tried to make conversation with him. "So," she probed, "Cyan mentioned that you were royalty..." "Oh, that," Bayou responded with an awkward chuckle. "I'm Queen Moorhen's great-nephew, but I'm...not really into being treated like 'royalty' or anything." Firefly laughed, "Tell me about it. Also, not to be rude or anything, but, well, I was just wondering if, well..." Bayou gave her a sweet look and said with amusement, "If I'm blind? The answer is yes, but don't feel sorry for me or anything; I was born like this." Firefly's eyes widened and she said hurriedly, "No, no. Not anything like that. I have two really good friends who are blind also." Bayou chuckled and said, "Maybe this means we'll become really good friends too." Firefly grinned and said, "Maybe." She turned to Cyan, who had a pleasantly surprised look on his face that she and Bayou had gotten along so well, and he said, "Should we go to the prey center? I don't know about you guys, but I am STARVING." Firefly playfully rolled her eyes and said, "Always hungry, Cyan." He blushed and grinned at his feet. "But," she continued, "I have to admit I am pretty hungry. We should go eat something." Bayou nodded in agreement, and they set off toward the prey center, talking about the fun things they would do at school. And Bayou, carefully navigating through the stone-covered hallways.
