2 Months Later

Grace whimpered and tossed in her sleep. She couldn't get comfortable and she wasn't quite sure why. Janet groaned softly and slowly opened her eyes feeling a wet sensation under her.

"..baby?"

"Hm?" Grace answered, more in a whine. Her lower back was killing her. Janet frowned and turned over, turning the light on, before pulling the covers back. Her eyes widened, seeing the sheets fully soaked.

"I think your water broke." Grace slowly blinked, trying her best to rid her eyes of the sleep that remained.

"But I would feel-"

She paused midway through her sentence as she moved. Her eyes widened as she gripped her stomach and groaned out loud. She figured that since she had been in a fixed position for most of the night, nothing really happened, but now that she was sitting upright, everything was moving along with her.

Janet made calls and tried her best to stay calm as she helped Grace into their bathroom. Janet had cleaned it the night before, since they both planned the home birth. She wanted to stay prepared with sanitation. Within a few minutes, the midwife had arrived alongside Gil.

..................

This is the day I've waited for. The day I could finally hold you and your brother in my arms. After 9 long months... it was time.

"Come on, baby. You can do it." Grace panted and screamed out in pain as Janet tried her best to comfort her. The water in the tub made it extremely hard for Janet to help hold Grace's legs back, but she was determined to do whatever she needed to do in order to help her wife get these babies out.

Yes, this feels impossible. Unbearable, even.

"..i-it hurts!" Janet frowned, hearing Grace whimper out of pain.

But I know it'll be worth it. The pain is only temporary. I want y'all to remember that. When y'all grow up and feel like the world is crumbling around you, just know it's all temporary.

"Can she take a break??" The midwife nodded and went to grab a cool rag as Grace shook her head,

"N-No.. I gotta get em out-"

"Baby, I know you want to see them as soon as possible, but you need to take your time." Grace's weary eyes met Janet's.

"Should it hurt this bad? They're o-okay, right?"

As much as I wanted to seem strong and in control, the unknown frightened me. What if something had happened to you two in my body? What if these feelings were a warning for something more dangerous?

Janet caressed Grace's face and nodded.

"They're fine. They're perfect. They're just taking their time. Don't rush the process." Grace nodded slowly as Janet pecked her lips and the midwife patted the rag against her forehead.

"Are you ready to continue, Mrs. Jackson?" The midwife asked. Grace nodded and drew in a shaky breath.

If I could go back to the beginning of my labor, I would, because no matter how much pain I was in, it was my favorite part. The anxiety of not knowing how you two looked and the adrenaline in the atmosphere was addicting. Your momma seemed as hyped up as I was and she wasn't even pushing.

"Push!" Grace inhaled sharply before pushing with all of her might.

"There you go. You got it, beautiful. I know you can do this." Janet spoke softly as her encouraging words wrapped their way around Grace's heart.

Oh, if only I knew how long you two would actually take. I wouldn't have spent all my energy in the first hour.

"There we go! One more big push!" Grace screamed out loud as the newborn baby girl made her way into the midwife's hands. The baby boy had came out 2 minutes prior and remained in Janet's hands. He was still partially underwater; both unaware of their birth.

5 hours later and you two had arrived

5 hours later and you two had arrived. I didn't hear you two crying, but I knew you were fine. Momma wasn't in a panic and neither was I. You two were just... calm.

Gil's POV

Jan slowly clipped their cords as they laid on Grace's chest. We would be heading to the hospital in a few moments, but for now, it wasn't their concern. I smiled and watched as the baby boy, whom they decided to name Michael, held onto Grace's neck.

For a newborn, he had a strong grip. His face was buried against the crease of her neck and if any of us dared to move him, he'd start fussing. The baby girl, on the other hand, had already opened her eyes. She didn't keep them that way for long, but we weren't rushing them.

Janet wiped away her tears and sniffled as she rubbed their backs. Her and Grace couldn't help but to cry and embrace one another. All the shit they had been through was now worth it. I wasn't there for everything, but I knew that this was their happy ending.

"They're light like Eissa." Janet giggled at Grace's comment.

A new chapter into parenthood was soon to happen, but until then, this was the end of their beginning. Through all of the abuse, scandals, negativity, and hospital visits, this was what they received.

"Gil, could you grab their baby bags and help us?" I came out of my thoughts and nodded.

"Of course, queen." As I stood and made my way into their bedroom, I couldn't help but to chuckle, glancing in the mirror. My fingers slowly moved over the bee tattoo that laid against my flesh. I quickly pulled the shirt sleeve back down as I heard footsteps approaching me.

"Hey, I forgot to tell you where they were. I'm sorry. My mind is everywhere." I chuckled and shook my head,

"You're fine. Go back in there with your babies. Let me do this." She nodded and smiled softly before running back to the bathroom.

Some things were meant to come to the light, but for Dunk's sake, some things were meant to stay a secret.
