"I swear, if you call me that one more time, I will punch you," I said under my breath. Rita didn't seem to care. "Oh look, the big girl's gonna cry to her mommy. No one's gonna save you now." Rita whispered in my ear. I pushed the girl off and walked down the stairs with my suitcase, glad to leave this dump. I waved to Mrs. Holly, the only good thing about my life. I then took a deep breath and walked out into the world.
The orphange already got me an apartment with two years payment. I just needed to get on my feet in that time. But what to do. I had a highschool diploma and an associate's degree from the local college to show off. But what to use them for? I sighed and looked for my new address.
The apartment was nice, with two bedrooms and one bath. It had a living room with a couch and a TV stand with an old TV in it. I already had a laptop, a gift from Mrs. Holly, and some other basic stuff. I was glad to see furniture. I started unpacking when the phone I had just hooked up began to ring. I answered it hesitantly. "Hey Veronica!" someone shouted. I nearly had a heart attack. "Rachel, you scared me!" I said. She laughed on the other line. "So how did you get this number?" I asked Rachel. "Mrs. Holly, who else?" I smiled. "So how's life in the big world?" Rachel asked. "I don't know, I haven't had time to live it!" I replied. We talked for a little bit longer before I had to hang up.
After three hours, I finally set up my apartment the way I wanted it. I sighed and laid on my couch. I pulled out my laptop, checking YouTube for updates. Nothing ever happened in my life.
Boy did that change.
