Red was walking through the woods as always, holding in her heart a desire no one knew; a desire to be adored by someone that wasn't family. At only eleven she longed for love, someone simple her family would approve. In the woods she felt relieved of that urge and strode casually through the area she knew so well.
Recently her grandmother had grown sick so her mother had given Red a daily errand to deliver goodies to her elder in the hopes she'd get better. Red was more then happy to take the job and enjoy the solitude she felt she needed more of.
"I like the woods because they're peaceful." She said aloud. "Because they calm my being and help me face who I am." Suddenly she stumbled and landed face first in the dirt, striking her head hard enough to see stars but not enough to get knocked out. As she sat back up, she noticed a dark form crouching in a tree's shade some feet away, still and watching her. Red picked up her basket and hurried along to grandmother's but couldn't forget about the shadowed creature that crouched so still, completely unafraid.

Later that evening, she was heading back home with a slightly cautious attitude. Her breath hitched at every little twig snapping, blue eyes wide and fearful. It wasn't until she reached the edge of the woods when she noticed the figure again, this time it seemed closer, golden eyes gleamed with a beauty she found most alluring. When she took a step to the creature it pulled back a little but continued to watch her. For a long moment, they just looked at each other, no judgements no real desire to make a move.
"Red darling come home!" She looked over her shoulder. "Coming mom!" But when she looked back the creature was gone and she walked off into the fading sunlight.
