A/N: I know I haven't updated anything a while, but in my defense I was waiting for at least one response on my page, but never mind I picked this one.
Enjoy.
Sam peeks out of a closed curtain of the house for what must be the hundredth time. And then only after Josh takes his next turn out the other window does Sam look again.
Avi text them that he was on his way ten minutes ago and so for the last five minutes Sam and Josh have been doing this.
The girls are asleep, and since Josh's rule wasn't 'no drinking', it is don't let the girls see you drunk, or so Sam had reasoned. They were four beers in and feeling a little silly, hence the window thing, awaiting Avi. And boy is he taking forever. It is eleven o clock on a Sunday, but Josh doesn't start work until ten tomorrow, he only has to get up early to make sure Scarlett and Paisley get off to school okay. Besides, sometimes a fun time with your best friend just happens, for Josh this is just one of those times.
Finally they see the flash if headlights pulling up beside Sam's car, since Josh's car is kept in the garage. The two men run from the windows and jump onto the couch, Sam's elbow connects with Josh's shoulder and thankfully that's the worst of it. Sam finds the remote in his hand just as Avi walks through the front door.
"Oh, how'd it go?" Josh asks.
Avi stops dead, his eyes widening, "How'd what go? Why are you two still up?"
"I'm always up this late, my bed is behind you," Sam laughs more than he should at his own joke, which is hardly a joke.
"How did your first day of work go?" Josh clarifies.
"Oh that, yeah that was actually really fun, it's exactly what I want to be doing right now," Avi tells them with a beaming smile as he sits down in his favourite arm chair.
"That's really awesome, I'm so happy for you," Josh nods. He glances quickly at Sam with a smirk then he turns to Avi with same look stuck in place, "And how was your date?"
"My what now?" Avi's eyebrows shoot up.
Sam puts a fist up to his own mouth trying to cover his laughter. It is really clear that Avi hadn't known that they knew. "Come on Avi, you really thought we'd wait up to ask how work was?" Sam cackles.
"How did you find out?" Avi asks.
"Do you realise I work with Aleen, I see her on an almost daily basis. She hasn't shut up about going on a date with you since she cleared with me that it wouldn't be weird. Something I might add, that you didn't do," Josh tries, and fails to keep a straight face.
Avi's mouth falls open just a little, "I didn't even think about that. Sorry Josh," he apologises.
Josh shrugs, "Do I seem mad to you? No need to apologise, she's a great girl," he smiles.
"Unless it was a shit date then she's not a great girl!" Sam tries, earning a look from both brothers. "Kaplan looks don't scare me," he folds his arms, "Besides, how did the date go? Did she look hot?"
Avi rolls his eyes, "How she looks is not all that matters Sam. But she did look amazing and we had a great time," he smiles, looking down a little.
"What did you do?" Josh asks.
"We went out for lunch at this really nice café type place. Then we went for a walk until I had to get to work, and then she stayed and watched me perform. We talked a little more afterwards and set up another date next week," he smiles shyly, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"I'm really happy for you Avi," Josh says to his little brother and pulls him in for a hug.
Avi happily hugs him back with a big smile.
"So... did you kiss her?" Sam asks.
Josh let's go of Avi to turn and smack his best friend across the back of his head. "Don't ask that, you sound like a teenage girl." He pauses as he turns back to Avi with an eyebrow raised as in asking him that same question without actually asking him.
Avi just stares between them both because no matter what his answer is he'll get questioned, why didn't kiss her? Was it a good kiss? How much did you kiss? And he couldn't be bothered with that.
"And don't just give us that lame, 'I don't kiss and tell line'," Sam points at the bearded man accusingly.
Avi shrugs, "I won't then," and he turns and makes his way up to his room.
"He so kissed her didn't her?" Sam asks.
Josh nods, "Sure did."...
"Sometimes picturing a word can help, spell Scarlett for me," Dr Quinn says to Scarlett. "And take your time," she reminds her.
Scarlett nods, "S-c-a-r-l-e-t-t."
"Now would you please say it while picturing it in your head?"
"Scarlett."
"Well done," Quinn smiles. "Now, you don't have to spell the words every time, but picture them. So how about Dad, Paisley, Adeline?"
Scarlett is quiet for a moment as she visualises her words, "Dad, Paisley, Adeline," she gives Quinn a big, bright smile.
"Well done," Quinn tells her genuinely.Sam stands up as Scarlett and Dr Quinn emerge from her office.
"Josh isn't here again?" Quinn raises a perfect eyebrow.
"What? Sick of seeing my face?" he jokes with a smirk.
"No, I just needed to talk to him about Scarlett's progress."
"I can give him a message," Sam shrugs.
"This isn't a phone call Sam," she sighs, with a hint of a smile. "But the fact that you've brought Scarlett to her last two weeks of sessions; I'll let you give him the message. Scarlett is doing very well, she is back about to where she was before the accident."
"Um, awesome, someone's getting ice-cream!" Sam cheers, holding his hand for a high five from Scarlett. She slaps his hand with a confident smile.
"I think this means that we're back to just one session a week," Quinn nods.
"Yay," Scarlett smiles. "I-I mean I love ha-hanging with you Quinn," she adds, not wanting to hurt her therapist's feelings.
"That's lucky then, cause I love hanging with you too," Quinn chuckles.
"You are so good with kids Quinn, you'll make a really good mom one day," Sam tells her.
Quinn's smile falters for a moment, "Well I'll be sure to let Finn know of your opinion," she smirks.
"Oh, he's still in the picture?"
"I-if you're d-doing the flirting th-thing again, please can I-I have the keys?" Scarlett holds out her hand in front of Sam.
"We're not doing the flirting thing," Sam scoffs.
Quinn raises an eyebrow and folds her arms.
"Okay now you're both giving me looks," he points at the two of them.
"Can you blame us?" Quinn asks with a hint of laughter in her voice. "Every time you bring Scarlett here, you flirt with me Sam. I mention Finn and you ask if he's still in the picture. You're sweet Sam, and funny... actually I have a friend, and at the moment she is the only one of my friends who is single, and she is always complaining about that. She's super-hot and just your type I reckon, she makes a lot of jokes too. Would you be interested?" Quinn raises that perfect eyebrow again.
Sam quickly nods, "Yes, very."
Scarlett watches him sceptically.
"Okay her name is Santana and I'm going to have a chat to her about it then I'll give her your number next week when you bring Scarlett in," she gives him a small smile.
"Awesome," Sam nods. "Ah, so we'd better get going then," he pats Scarlett's shoulder.
"See you next time," Quinn smiles, "But more importantly, see you next time Scarlett."
"Bye," Scarlett replies, giving a wave as they leave. She turns to Sam, "So S-Santana?" she asks.
"Sounds like it," he shrugs.
"W-why are you s-so desperate for a g-girlfriend Sam?"
Sam frowns, "You know, I don't really know. I guess it's just that at my age I'm supposed to be married with children and I'm not. Not even sure I'm ready for it, but that's not the point, it's just human nature Scarlett."
"How old are y-you?"
"Thirty-two."
Scarlett's eyes widen.
Sam chuckles, "Yeah, I know."
A/N: I kind of want to do something where I ask a question at the end of my chapters in my stories just to see what your opinions are, there'll be no right or wrong answers, just your opinion :)
If you think that's a fun idea, answer the question below :)Who do you think is the happiest character in the story at the moment?
Hannah :)
