Avi and Sam are hiding out in the kitchen with Ada and sometimes Scarlett. Josh is in and out too, practically serving the room of five and six year olds next door.
That's it though, the screaming, Avi and Sam can't handle it, their ears are ringing and their head, aching. Not to mention Ada's miserable mood because of the noise, she is whiny and that certainly doesn't help Avi and Sam.
"You don't reckon she's sick do you?" Sam asks then winces from another high pitched scream that floats through the wall.
Avi squeezes the bridge of his nose then walks over to Ada and touches her forehead, "She might be a little warm." He touches Sam's forehead for comparison and his eyes wide, "Or you are you're warmer than her."
"Well I'm naturally hot, get over it," the blonde smirks.
Avi rolls his eyes, "Seriously go try the thermometer," he points up the stairs.
Sam runs off up the stairs, he is only going up for precaution, if he's sick and Ada isn't, he doesn't want her catching anything.
"Silly Sam huh Ada?" Avi coos, pulling her from her highchair.
Scarlett walks up behind Avi and wraps her arms around his waist and leans her head against her back, letting out a big sigh. So she is just as fed up as the adults are.
"I hate i-it," she tells him.
"I know, hey maybe we can go play a board game? You love Cluedo right?" Avi asks. He knows Josh doesn't like the girls having too much screen time, and Scarlett has already used hers today, even the extra she'd been allowed today only.
"I-I wanna play!" She nods.
"Go get the game and we can set it up on the table," Avi replies as he puts Ada in her playpen. I'm just gonna check on your dad okay."
"Can't l-leave Ada alone," she points at the baby.
"Get Cluedo, then get back and set up, then I'll check on your dad," Avi re-evaluates his plan.
Scarlett sprints off and is back in no time. So Avi retreats to the lounge, scared out of his mind.Meanwhile Sam is upstairs in the bathroom, he took his temperature and it was high, he probably shouldn't be around Ada until he gets it down.
"You wanna play?" A little voice comes from behind Sam. How the fuck had someone snuck up behind him? He's looking in the mirror, but nonetheless he slams into the sink in fright. He spins around and there is a little girl.
"We playing games downstairs but I gotta pee," she tells him surely.
Sam nods slowly, "Uh, okay," the he leaves the room. Is he supposed to wait for her out here? He does wait because he doesn't want some little girl getting upset if he didn't.
The little girl is out soon and stares up at Sam. "Let's go then," she speaks and starts towards the stairs. "What's your name?" She asks.
"Sam," he answers.
She stops dead, spinning around, "No way! My name's Sami!"
"Well that's cool," Sam smiles. "Paisley didn't tell me she had a friend with the same name as me," he chuckles.
She reaches for his hand, "You can be my boyfriend for the day."
Sam's smile hesitates, "What?"Avi walks into the lounge, mentally preparing himself for the worst. He doesn't know if that's the case when he walks into the room and bursts out laughing. Josh is tied to a chair, his face is covered in make-up and he is wearing a wig.
The seven girls in the room turn to Avi.
"He's got long hair!" Tara squeals.
"The beard is fuzzy!" Jenny giggles.
"Can I touch it?" Mira grins.
"Must touch! Must touch! Must touch!" Katie chants.
"You're being weird," Paisley tells them. "He's just my uncle, he's got a beard, big deal. You don't gotta marry him for it," she rolls her eyes. "Asides, he's got a girlfriend."
The group of girls all chorus, "Ooooo."
Avi just shakes his head and wonders who told Paisley anything anyway. He comes to the conclusion that is has to be Scarlett, he's never said anything about a girlfriend to Josh or Sam, because the relationship isn't official like that. But Scarlett, oh Scarlett, that blonde-haired, blue-eyed angel-like girl who'd look to do no wrong, kept saying that Aleen is his girlfriend, conclusion: explained. He likes Aleen, a lot, and they have fun together, but they're not labelling anything yet, and it is as simple as that.
"You zoned out Uncle Avi, "Paisley tells him as she pulls on the sleeve of his plaid shirt.
"So can I touch your beard?" Mira asks again.
"They all want to touch your beard because they're weirdos like that," Paisley sighs.
"Fine," Avi starts, but holds his hands up as they all step towards him, "But on one condition," he holds up on finger, they're all listening intently, he has their undivided attention. "You all have to have clean hands, go wash them."
And just like that the group of five and six year olds bolt up the stairs.
"You're right Paisley, they're a little weird," Avi chuckles nervously.
"A world of pain young brother," Josh finally speaks from the chair he is tied to.
"Says you who is covered in makeup," Avi snickers.
"I speak only from experience. Just beware, Jenny is too good at tying knots. At first I was only pretending to be stuck, then as it turns out, I am stuck."
"Oh, Uncle Avi, you can untie Daddy," Paisley grins at him.
"And why can't you?" Avi asks.
"Like Daddy said, Jenny's good at tying knots," she wiggles her tiny fingers as near to his face as she can. "Do these look like knot untying fingers to you?"
Chloe is the first one back down the stairs, looking like a crazed, over-enthusiastic kid, "After I touch your beard I'ma braid your hair!" She charges towards him.
So naturally Avi runs away.
