*Willow's POV*
I sniffle and frown, unhappy that I'm starting to get sick. I pull the blanket up higher over my body, cocooning tightly into a ball.
"How's my little burrito?" Aubree asks, coming around the corner with a cup in her hands.
"I feel like poop." I turn on my side to face her as she perches by my side on the couch, slipping a glass into my hands. I look up at her questioningly.
"Tea. Good for head pressure. Just sip it; I'll go find you some Tylenol."
She moves to get up but I make a noise of protest and she looks back down at me, her hair falling into her face.
"No medicine. Cuddles."
Aubree shakes her head and gets up again. I frown and kick my feet, squinching up my face and whining.
"Oh, honey whats wrong?" Aubree coos, coming back and kneeling next to my flailing body. "Baby, you're gonna spill your tea."
"No medicine. I just want cuddles!"
"You're sick, little one," she murmurs, pushing my hair off my sweaty forehead. "It's my job to make you better. Now drink."
She presses the cup to my lips and I let her with a pout on my face, feeling the cold liquid rush over my sore throat. I wince at the feeling it leaves behind. Aubree kisses my forehead and tells me she'll be right back so I lay there and sulk under my blanket, waiting impatiently.
When she comes back, she has one of those little measuring cups that comes with medicine filled with that disgusting red liquid in her hands. I immediately bury my face in the back of the couch.
"Nope, I'm not taking it!" I yell, my voice muffled by the couch cushions. "Its disgusting and yucky."
"I know princess but it will make you feel better. Come on."
"Nuh uh."
"Yes."
"No!"
"If you don't turn over and take this right now, you're going into time out and you're eating all vegetables for dinner," Aubree states firmly, and that makes me slowly peek at her. Her face is stern, unwavering. My heart starts beating with panic so I sit up quickly.
"O-okay."
Aubree smiles. "Good."
I down it like a shot, sticking out my tongue and gagging. My hands fumble for the tea and Aubree helps guide it to me and I take it down in gulps, trying to forget that disgusting poopy stuff ever went down my throat.
"That's not gonna make me feel better, Mommy."
"You say that every time, but after you take it you pass out and feel much better when you wake up." I cross my arms and she laughs a little, pressing a kiss to my hot forehead. "Come on, let's get my little baby in bed so she can take a proper nap."
"Okay, Mommy. I like the sound of naps."
She takes my hand and leads me up the steps, my thumb on my other hand shoved into my mouth and holding my blanket with my other fingers. It is warmer in my room and it feels nice, letting my body relax when I slide into bed and cuddle into my pillow pets and stuffed animals.
"I'm going to go cook dinner and let the dog out, okay? You stay here and take a nap for me."
I reach out with grabby hands and hold onto her, giving her the best puppy dog eyes I can. "Can I have a huggie first?"
She laughs and lets me bury my face into her soft shirt. She kisses me on the top of my head and tells me goodnight, closing my door on the way out.
"Night night, Mommy," I mumble, already drifting off to sleep.
When I wake up, I smell chicken. Not just any chicken though... wings. I pop my eyes open and jump out of bed, dragging one of my stuffies with me to the kitchen.
"Mommymommymommymommymommy!" I shout happily, turning the corner sharply and running right into Aubree.
"Whoa! Someone is feeling better," Aubree observes, ruffling my staticky hair.
"I smell wings!" I throw my stuffie in the air and almost don't catch him, gasping as he almost hits the floor. "I'm sorry, Mr. Dolphin, I won't drop you like that again."
Aubree smiles at me and shows me the food she's making. "All of it is your favorite. Boneless wings, mac and cheese, French fries. I know you're sick, so I wanted to make you something that made you feel at least a little better."
I giggle and latch onto her hip. "Thank you, Mommy."
"It's no problem, baby. Go sit at the table, okay? Everything is done. You want your sippy?"
I nod my head and plop myself in my chair, sitting Mr. Dolphin up in his own chair. Soon, Aubree brings me some food on an animal plate, which just so happened to be a dolphin.
"Look, Mr. Dolphin, it's you!" I show him my plate and drop some French fries in my lap as I'm doing it. "Oops."
"Keep your plate on the table, princess."
"Okay, Mommy," I call, taking a bite out of the chicken and getting barbecue sauce all over my face.
I put some French fries in front of Mr. Dolphin to eat, but he said he wasn't hungry so I took them back and ate them. If he doesn't want them, that's just more for me. His loss.
When I finished eating and Aubree turned around from washing dishes, her eyes widened and she started to laugh.
"Baby girl, did you eat any of that? It's mostly on your face."
"Umm..."
She brings a wash cloth over and I have no time to hide. She grabs my face and rubs it all over me, and I try to escape but I can't.
"Noo, no I don't like it!" I swat at her hands.
"Princess, I have to wipe your face off. It's messy."
I pout as she finishes and jump off the chair as soon as she's done, almost forgetting Mr. Dolphin. I run to my room and sit on the floor, reaching under my bed to find the drawing I made Aubree before I fell asleep. I put Mr. Dolphin on my bed and run back down the stairs, calling for Aubree. She runs to me, looking concerned, her frown turning into a smile when she sees what's in my hands.
"Oh, honey, did you draw something for me?"
"Yes! It's me and you, and Mr. Dolphin, and our doggy. I drew it before I got sicky."
She takes it gently from me and kisses my cheek. "Its beautiful, sweetheart. I'm gonna put it on the fridge."
I grin, feeling accomplished.
When all the dishes were washed and dried, (I helped dry all of them) we cuddled up on the couch and started watching a movie. We were halfway through it when I tried scratching my back but couldn't reach it. Aubree did it for me and started rubbing my back, which felt very nice.
"You're gonna make me fall asleep," I mumble as she massages my shoulders.
"That's okay, you need as much rest as you can get."
I snuggle up closer to her and sigh happily, letting her spoil me. I'm starting to drift off to sleep again and I feel warm and safe this close to Aubree. She kisses my head, tells me she loves me and I remember thinking that I should get sick more often.
