Everybody from the ship eventually arrives at the hospital, but I wasn't aware of it since I was too focused on my dead boyfriend.
"Hey guys..." I say monotonously in an almost empty voice. "How're you doing Lance?" Coran asks me in a bit of a concerned tone. "I'm fine. I just... I just miss him... And I know he's right here but... It's not the same. I want his smile back, I want the warmth in his hands back, I just want him back... My heart feels empty and I've been crying for almost an hour. I haven't eaten anything since lunch yesterday, but I don't feel emotionally well to eat and-" "Lance, we know how this must feel. Keith was an amazing person, and he seemed so happy. None of us could've predicted that he'd... Look, the point is that we're here for you Lance."
I can't help but just keep staring at Keith's pale face and light blue lips, and missing his gorgeous eyes. I hold onto his hand tight and I hold it to my chest, as though nobody else were in the room but me and Keith.
"But you don't get it, that's the thing... He was my boyfriend and I thought things were fine, he was fine whenever we went to bed. But yesterday we got into a fight about Shiro, and he got so upset that he locked himself into the bathroom... I was the reason why he killed himself, I should have tried stopping him better, and I'm the reason why Keith will never come back..."
I felt tears coming out of my eyes but at this point, I didn't even care anymore about them. All I cared about at the moment was the fact that Keith was dead, and it was all my fault.
There's silence between all of us before Pidge breaks it, "you're right, none of us will understand how much pain you're in right now. But what we can do, is to help you in any way possible. We'll even help with paying for a funeral, and maybe even a cremation. Okay?" I look up at Pidge and slowly nod. "My mom used to work with somebody who makes jewelry and keychains out of ashes, I can see if she can make something for you, Lance. I've been wearing a bracelet with my dog's ashes for the past eight years that she made, and it's amazing what she can do. Do you want me to call my mom to see if that sort of thing can happen?" I nod slowly again to Pidge's suggestion, and I let go of Keith's hand and I look at Pidge. "Thank you. I'm sorry for my little outburst..." This time it's Hunk that offers a suggestion, "you don't have to apologize, Lance; You're justified for it. While Pidge is calling her mom, how about we go to the food court? I think they have pizza and fries, if you want." I nod and stand up from my chair.
"Lance, we're all here for you. And however long you need to recover and grieve, we understand. We can find somebody else to pilot the blue lion while you're away." Allura says in a soft tone. "Okay..." I walk over to everybody and lean on Hunk, as he is the closest one to me here and is taking me to the cafeteria. "Allura and I will stay here with Keith while you and Hunk go get something to eat, and Pidge calls her mom. Does that sound like a plan, Lance?" Coran offers. I nod against Hunk's shoulder and I take one last look at Keith's still body, and Hunk and I start to walk to the cafeteria.
