The scream echoed off the grimy, damp stone walls that made up their prison. Emma growled in frustration, trying in vain to break the chain that held her and Genji in their cell. He was slumped in defeat, no longer attempting to break free. He had tried for hours after he woke up. "There's no point, Emma." He muttered. "At least they want us alive. We would be dead by now if otherwise." He grumbled, despair threatening to strangle him. "They'll send someone to fetch us and then I suspect they'll interrogate us."
As if on cue, the iron door swung open and they were greeted with the sight of a very short humanoid, a dwarf, he guessed by his long beard and height. His eyes seemed to shine with sympathy, and he unlocked them from the wall. Genji and Emma rubbed their raw wrists. "Sorry about this folks," the dwarf mumbled as attempted to handcuff them. Genji kicked him in the chest, hard. As one, Genji and Emma ran out the door, only to be seized by two huge guards. The dwarf picked himself up, brushed some dust off his coat, blindfolded and handcuffed them. Genji began to curse, but he was quickly gagged. Silence, except for the sound of feet on stone and the clinking of the guards' heavy armour Genji's handcuffs were lifted up to the ceiling, the stone cold to the touch, and was pinned there. His blindfold was removed. He saw Emma sitting, tied to a chair and a man he recognised as the one who forced him off The Wall that fateful night stamping on her foot with spiked combat boots. Luckily, Emma's equally thick leather boots prevented him from drawing blood. She spat on his face and swore at him, but he just laughed. He saw Genji watching and pulled the gag from his mouth. "YOU SON OF A B-" he was cut off when the Viking's brass knuckledusters hit him in the face, rocking his cheek back and drawing blood.
"What did you just say to me?"
"I said your mother was a-" this time the Viking kicked him in the chest, causing his feet to leave the floor and Genji swung slightly, his wrists bound to the roof. He made no sound. He wouldn't give the man the satisfaction of getting a reaction from him. The Viking, face red, calmed himself down
"So," Genji said conversationally, "nice weather for it, huh?" The Viking seemed to explode at this, but once again calmed himself down. His voice was filled with barely restrained fury. "You will tell me when and where the troops reinforcing The Wall will come" he spat. Genji has no idea that troops where coming to the wall, but he decided to use this to his advantage.
"You stand no chance. There must be trillions of elite soldiers coming. You're better off surrendering now!" Genji said, giggling to hide his fear.
"Fine, the Viking grunted. Be that way. He let loose with a flurry of punches, leaving Genji's front raw and bloody.
"I'll never tell you anything, apart from what I did last night with your wife." He taunted. Genji felt his ribs crack but he didn't make a sound. "Or the night before that with your mum," he grunted, trying to keep the pain at bay. The huge Viking took a step back, sweat flowing down his face. He looked defeated. Turning to Emma, he grunted. "Are you going to tell me anything?" He boomed.
"He did my work for me" she said, smirking. The Viking grabbed the back if her chair and threw it across the room. Its legs collapsed and Emma was left tied to some wooden planks on the floor. She gasped in pain - most of the skin in her left leg had been grazed off. In his rage, the Viking kicked Emma while she was on the floor. She tried her best to be quiet but cries of pain escaped her mouth when her left arm was shattered by his boots. "TELL ME" the Viking yelled at the top of his lungs. "Never!" she managed to get out, tears flowing down her face. The huge man caught his breath and left the room, stomping in his way out. "Are you okay?" Genji asked, his voice feeble.
"Does it look like I'm okay?" Emma snapped back. Then her expression softened. "Sorry. That was the pain talking. How come you didn't make a sound?"
"I was trained for these situations."
"Really? They train you for that in Nihon?"
"No. Somewhere else. A place where I trained for many years when I was younger."
Emma wanted to ask more but Genji had closed up and she decided it was better not to pry.The sun eventually set, and the grimy, dank interrogation room was pitch black. The ancient wooden door creaked open, and genji was released from his handcuffs, falling to the floor. Emma was also helped up by the short figure he recognised as the dwarf from earlier. "Why are you doing this?" Genji asked.
"Because I'm a prisoner here to, a slave to that man. You guys seem to know how to survive so I thought this was my chance to escape. I'm Fraser, By the way."
"Genji. But I'm afraid in this state where not really in a position to help." Genji groaned, limping down the steps and off The 'friendly' side of the wall, but there was no help in sight. He helped to carry the limo figure of Emma, who had fallen unconscious. Fraser handed him his swords and strapped a quiver onto Emma's back. Just as they limped into some woods, bells rang on the wall. "The prisoners have escaped!"
