Genji hoped they were safe. They had made it quite deep into one of the evergreen forests that decorated this part of The Wall and night had fallen again. He sighed. In reality, there was very little chance that he would make it back to friendly territory in one piece, not to mention alive. Although this was officially Nihon territory, beyond the forest was a tundra so inhospitable that patrols didn't even venture there due to the threat of the arctic orcs who lived there. Although they were officially neutral, Genji doubted that they would of soldiers who were enemies to other orcs.

Emma had woken up around dusk and she grumbled about her pain and her inability to walk. Fraser, however, seemed to be overjoyed. He was clearly relishing in the crisp, cold mountain air and the feeling of freedom he must have been experiencing after escaping slavery. Genji himself didn't feel anything. When he was being tortured, his training had kicked in and he had gone completely numb. Well, almost. He had flinched when Emma was injured. He had healed himself in the morning, using techniques that he had been taught a long time ago in a dojo at the top of a mountain. He was planning on doing the same to Emma once he had recovered his strength.

Genji quickly grabbed Emma and Fraser, forcing them down to the floor on pure instinct. Emma whimpered in pain, trying to be as silent. Genji's senses were on high alert. All of a sudden a patrol of Vikings emerged from the undergrowth. "where have they gone?" Hissed a Viking with very bushy eyebrows, frustration written all over his face.
"You probably scared them off with your eyebrows," another soldier said, chuckling. Bushy eyebrows dragged his axe behind him as he walked nearer to the bush they were hidden behind
"I need to pee," he said and walked around the bush. His eyes widened as he saw them. His mouth opened to alert the other men and Genji drew his word and then there was an unbelievably loud BANG and there was smoke everywhere and Genji's ears were ringing and there was blood everywhere and bushy eyebrows didn't have a head anymore. Genji didn't dwell on what happened, he just leapt out and decapitated a Viking before he could recover from his shock. The second man died scrambling to draw his weapon. The third Viking punches Genji in the face, hard, before Genji's katana cut him in half. The last Viking, a girl with light brown hair and dark angry eyes, swung her ace at him. Genji would normally be able to dodge or parry the attack easily but he was still dazed from the punch. The blow opened up a nasty gash on his forearm. Just as she was about to finish him with another strike, there was another BANG and a flash and something whistles past him impossibly and she was lying on the ground with a huge hole going right through her.

Genji turned around to face Fraser, who held a strange wooden stick. He was weak from blood loss, so he didn't ask Fraser what he was holding, but focused on healing himself. Fraser's eyes widened as he saw Genji's wounds close. "Why are you gaping? You saw me do this yesterday morning. Genji asked in an irritated voice. He was exhausted but crawled over to Emma and began to heal her too, glowing red energy passing from his fingertips to her wounds. "What is that anyway?"
"What?" Fraser said casually, the hollow wooden stick poorly hidden behind his back.
Genji roller his eyes."What do you think I'm talking about? Maybe that sick which I saw you use to blow someone's head off and rip a girl apart. No pun intended."

Fraser caught Genji's glare and decided to open up. "Something I was working on in secret. It uses a black thing called gunpowder to shoot small steel balls at people much faster and more powerfully than an arrow. I call it a musket." Fraser said proudly.
"You need to show me how that works" Genji mumbled, exhaustion taking over him as he attempted to heal Emma. "Well, first-"
"Later." Genji slurred. "I'm so tired right now that-" and as the last of Emma's wounds closed up, Genji was snoring.
