(A little warning, this chapter is longer than the others)

There Boruto lied on his bed, stunned.

"Dad?" he asked once more, his eyes wide with shock as he looked at the man beside him.

Said man looked at his son with pain in his eyes, his crystal blue eyes almost darker than usual, as his face scrumched up in unease.

"Boruto.."

He whispered, bringing his hand out to brush his fingers through the boys golden blonde locks, much like his fathers used to be.

"Dad..what's going on?"

The small blonde choked out, his body trembling at all this attention being thrown at him.

Naruto wasn't always there as a father, his work always took more time than anyone wished it to. Boruto never got much father son time, at least, not like he used to.

You could say it's becuase he was older and more mature, you could even say the work just got overwhelming. Whatever the case, this affection being given to him from the blonde hokage was more than a little unusual for todays standards.

Instead of answering his Question, Naruto calmly choked out,

"Sarada is okay Boruto, you dont need to worry about her any longer."

Boruto was taken back by his fathers response, but he couldn't work up the strength to question it.

Why did he feel so tired?

He's never felt like this before.

"I can't believe it happened so soon, though I'm not very supprised given who your genetics come from, still, to awaken it after such an incident, it almost remimds me of the day he had awoken his aswell..protecting a teammate..."

The hokage started mumbling, uncaring if he was heard by his son for the time being.

Boruto listened to his fathers mumbling, confused by the outburst, but welcoming the noise, as the room was completely silent otherwise.

Just then the door to the newly chatty room had opened, revealing none other than the man who had brought the blonde boy here from the hospital entrance.

His walk was slow, yet serious, as he came toward the blond boy, his right hand reaching out to feel the boys forehead.

"You're still warm." he grunted, grabbing the wet piece of cloth from the bowl of water on the bedside table, placing it on the boys head to cool it down.

"Uncle Sasuke?" he questioned,

Confused by the mans sudden appearance.

The elder Uchiha looked down at the boy, a very present froun on his face,

"Naruto,"

He called looking over to the, still daydreaming, Uzumaki.

Said mans head shot up at the interruption of his thoughts,

"Oh, hey Sasuke, hows it goin'."

Sasuke hissed, his eyes glaring daggers at the eldest blonde,

"You still havent told him yet? How about getting out of your daydream and explaining things."

"Hey! I Just so happened to be waiting for you, so we could say it together!"

The Uchiha's annoyed look only grew.

Boruto, completely lost, started laughing at the twos bickering, laughing the first real laugh he's had in months. His eyes watered, and his stomach clenched up, as his burst of giggles ran throughout the room.

Two sets of eyes shot down to the bubbling blonde, their faces softening at the sound of his laugh.

"Ya'know teme, I think we did this whole thing backwards." Naruto chuckled, enthralled by his sons laughter.

Sasuke grunted, an amused smile on his face,

"Yeah, I think you're right."

The laughter quickly died down as a sharp pain ripped throughout the small blondes forehead, causing him to groan out uncomfortably.

A very pained face became present on Borutos face as he gripped the sides of his head, massaging the cool cloth to his temples.

Both elder males looked at the scene before them, an equally as pained expression on their face at the boys discomfort.

"Did it hurt this bad for you, sasuke?"

"No, this may have to do with the fact he wasn't aware of his trait beforehand, it's most likley his body trying to fight back to it and failing."

"So if he where to know beforehand he wouldn't be in this much pain?"

"From my perspective, I'd say him not knowing made his brain automatically think it of an illness or deformity, and is trying to fight it off. Kind of like if you get a cold, and know its a cold, it is less effective than if you have absolutely no idea what is wrong with you."

"Ah, I see."

The sting in Boruto's head slowly subsided, his aching muscles feeling heavier by the minute.

Until he, once again, lost consciousness.

__________

Naruto and sasuke sat outside boruto's room, looking at the floor wondering what to do.

The three males were all by themselves in the house, everyone else having gone out to visit Sarada.

"You can go too, Sasuke, to visit your daughter, I know you're worried."

"I'm not worried. Besides, you can't do this without me."

The blonde stayed quiet, looking at the floor more intensely.

"We really messed up, didn't we." he finally choked out, sitting up into a fetal position and grabbing both of his arms.

Sasuke stayed silent, looking over to the blonde, slight curiosity in his eyes.

Naruto continued,

"We can't even take him to a proper hospital, even with all my power as hokage. I don't think I've ever felt this..useless.."

Sasuke lifted up his right arm and wrapped it around the blonde, bringing him in closer.

"Neither of us have the upper hand in this, Naruto. But at least he has someome to count on, we could have used that in the past."

Naruto grabbed sasukes hand with his own, kepping a tight grip on it as he spoke his next words

"Yeah, but still, he doesn't deserve this, think about what he saw with Sarada, all of that, and yet he still has to suffer? I've heard him wake up screaming in the night, calling her name, thinking she was dead. That boy is too innocent at this age, he's just a normal kid."

Sasuke squeezed Naruto's hand in reassurance.

"He's our normal kid, and he will make it through the pain."
