The night continued.

Both men had migrated back into the boys room, the cold rainy night shadowing over the boys small snores.

Hinata and Himawari having gone to bed already, Naruto giving the excuse that Boruto needed some help with homework and Sasuke wanted to help.

The young boy's screamimg had stopped, his headaches having completely gone away as far as they knew, now, he was slumbering away, tear stains present on his tan, scarred cheeks.

"What exactly did Boruto see on that mission, Naruto."

It wasn't a question, and Naruto knew it, the dominant gene of the Uchiha clan had been awoken in his twelve year old son from a seemingly easy mission, and his daughter of the same age, had been violently injured.

The blond cleared his throat,

"All I know, is that he came home with Sarada in his arms, sweating and panting, and he and she were both covered in blood."

The elder blonde heart Sasuke's hum of approval.

"It's astonishing to say the least. Even with what you said when I returned, I never avtually expected his eyes to change. They were too blue, and bright, it almost pains me to see him give that up, for something so dark."

"Bright blue eyes, huh? You could say him giving them up is a gift from my own childhood, back when Karuma and I, weren't on very good terms."

Sasuke stayed quiet, remembering their first fight at the valley of the end, when they were no elder than their children. The blood in naruto's eyes conflicted with the brightness of his heart.

"I guess we both led up to this."

It was quiet.

"Sasuke?"

The man in question hummed in response.

"How will you treat Boruto? I haven't been the greatest father, I guess you could say it was becuase I didn't know how to approach him, seeing as how his..father was missing..I felt like i should take over the role of both parents, even though....I never had any to begin with.."

Sasuke was silent, thinking about the question carefully,

"I will be a father to him. I'll teach him jutsu and how to use his sharingan properly. I'll love him as my own child. Becuase, we created him."

"What about Sarada and Sakura?"

"Sarada, is my daughter, while I was an absent father, I do plan on making up the time I've been gone...As for Sakura, she was more of a last resort. I feel nothing for her than the love you'd feel for a teammate, yet she gave me a child, and while she doesn't know it, it was to protect you."

"What about you and Hinata? You're daughter together?"

Naruto swallowed, thinking about his words,

"Hinata...she kissed me that day, and I let that guide me. It's never felt right with her, I've only just....I don't know..I guess you could say she was my last resort aswell...Our daughter is special to me, but, I haven't been around to love her as I should..."

"I guess we both weren't good parents."

"Yeah.."

The room got quiet once again, the soft snores of the young blonde being the only noise echoing through the room.

"We...we can start over." the hokage whispered.

"We?"

"We can..raise Boruto right, ya'know? Explain the situation to sakura and Hinata, take him and become better parents, I as a better father to both my children, and you to become closer to Sarada and to get to know your son? Without the pressure of marriage on our shoulders."

"You have a real problem with that."

"What..?"

"Looking into the future and setting your mind on things."

"It..it was just a thought.."

"It's a good idea, stupid."
