Lola glanced at her roommate who was flirting with her date while Lola was trying hard not to yawn at how boring hers was. Her friend, Julia wanted to go out with this guy but he would only go on a double date with his friend who he had been trying hard to get out of his house. She only agreed because Julia really liked the guy but now she was regretting ever agreeing to it.
The guy wasn't boring per say, it was more of how he didn't communicate with her at all. He had short abrupt answers to every question she asked him. He wasn't much interested in this double date and she didn't blame him. The guy was dragged here by his friend just like her but the difference between as that Lola was trying hard to at least make conversation. He wasn't even trying.
Lola glanced back at the guy to see him staring out the window at the city lights. It would be Christmas soon which meant they would have a small break. Lola was actually excited to go home. She hadn't seen her mother and brother in months. Scott was still in middle school so she could already imagine the stories he'd be telling her about what he'd been up to with Stiles.
The girl caught herself laughing and Jordan looked over at her. He frowned, and the girl mumbled a 'sorry'. "I was just thinking of something."
"What?"
"Nothing. I just can't wait to go back home. It's been a while," Lola said truthfully, her gaze still on the lights outside. Jordan hummed, "It's been a while since I've been home as well."
Lola took that as a chance to ask him since it seemed like he was a family guy and he'd take any chance to talk about his home. "Do you have any family here in Washington?" Lola asked, and Jordan turned his head to her.
He shook his head, "No, I honestly wish. It's just me out here. And you?"
Lola sighed, "I do but I kinda wished I didn't," Lola said, thinking to the man who she had been avoiding meeting since she got here. Her father had been trying to meet up with her for ages and every time the girl gave an excuse saying she was busy. The man probably picked up that she lied.
Jordan raised a brow. Julia giggled and the two turned to see Julia and her date, Liam cuddling in the middle of the restaurant. Lola and Jordan both exchanged glances and they laughed realizing how well their friends' date was going and how awful theirs was.
"You wanna get out of here?" Jordan asked and Lola nodded. Jordan had been the one to ask and she was surprised since he didn't seem interested in her at all.
The two were able to leave without Julia or Liam ever noticing their disappearance. The two had walked out of the restaurant, and Lola was never been so happy to feel the evening breeze on her face.
