"what do you mean, my husband is at work right now" zareefah said bewildered by the person speaking on the other side.
"I'll send you address of the hospital" he said.
"....okay" she said nodding vigorously and removing her self from her state of shock, she grabbed her keys and went straight to the car. Driving fast but trying to clear her mind so she doesn't miss or take a wrong turn.
She finally calms herself down and calls her father in law.
**phone convo**
zareefah: Assalamualaikum
Anwar: Wa'alikumussalam, how are you?
zareefah: Alhamdulillah I'm fine, but Khaleefah is not, I was just informed that he was shot on the leg.
Anwar: okay send me-
zareefah: already sent.
Anwar: I'll be there as soon as I can, but calm down okay?
zareefah: okay, bye....thank you
Anwar: no problem
*********
"thank you" she said shooting a weak smile to the nurse who guided her to the room.
''Assalamualikum?" she said opening the door slowly. The sight of him laying down on the bed helpless brought back a lot of memories of her mom. "oh Allah, khaleefah" she said rushing to the bed as streams of tears fell from her already dewy eyes.
"Haydar?" she asked when she finally managed to lift her head to scan the room.
"hey sis" he said awkwardly.
" thanks for coming..b-but how did you know?" she asked wondering if he was there when Khaleefah was shot. Even though it was crazy thought because he would have been shot too.
" the person who called you called me first" he said bluntly.
she nodded, tears forming,"come here" he said opening his arms, she fell into embrace breaking into sobs.
"who would do s-such?"she asked sobbing , he couldn't help but feel hurt too, knowing there was something he could've done
****the night****
khaleefah and haydar walked through the house with men behind leading them to the man who captured hafa. khaleefah was thinking of ways to escape incase things don't go as planned which always seems to happen if the case is Ahmed.
As the door opened,Khaleefah met eyes with the one and only ."I see....when you said you were coming i thought you were bluffing." he said smirking.
"where is she?"he asked not wanting the reason he was here to be changed into bickering.
"oh she's here, but......" ahmed dragged, khaleefah knew the reason, so he nodded at haydar, who took the money to the table. He opened the case which left Ahmed with a smirk. He motioned for them to follow him. They both walked confidently even though they both knew today might be the end of their lives.
" here she is" Ahmed said sitting on a reading table," quite a luxurious room for a prisoner ey?" he said with a smug plastered on his face.
"what have you done to her?" khaleefah asked with a serious face, but his heart was melting with pity upon seeing her bruised arm and face
"well , you know people with the bigger mouths get the bigger punches"
"she's fifteen!!!"Haydar exclaimed.
"well her sister did'nt pay the money she was supposed to pay, so she might as well pay for her sister's mistake."
Haydar wanted to comment but he knew talking some sense into someone like Ahmed in situations like this was'nt the best idea.
"let's get out of here"Haydar said, helping Hafa to stand. Khaleefah turned to leave too, even though he knew Ahmed would not let him leave like that.
They all walked back to his office, khaleefah sat down. ahmed went to his computer "I've heard you got married" ahmed said. Khaleefah ignored by looking around taking interest in the interior.
"why did you marry her?"
"because i wanted to" khaleefah said bluntly.
"well are you aware she paid for the marriage?" ahmed asked, without hesitation Khaleefah went straight to his neck strangling him with all his might, making ahmed's head throw backwards with a hurl.
All hell broke loose, haydar knew he could save his friend by calling back up but he decided to punch the two guards making them fall with loud thugs. He went for khaleefah holding him back.
After trying to calm khaleefah down the three of them went for the door, upon turning the knob they heard a discordant noise, which left khaleefah lying on the ground.
