Night at the Library

Street buzzing with tired people from hard day work, drunkards swaying around being rude to the crowds, Jimin feels annoyed being pushed around the sea of people reeking alcohol.

'I can't believe I slept for 14 hours straight, guess the sleepless nights really did me good' Jimin sigh rubbing his neck being sore after sleeping for a long time under a tree.

He turn toward a dark alley to avoid the crowds, going through alleys to alleys without getting lost, he knows the city like his own backyard, his best friend always gets into trouble and they would always escape and hide together all the time, he smiles slightly remembering those time and shakes his head thinking for having had a prankster as best friend.

Suddenly he stop and take a detour to another alley, he runs after remembering his promise to his best friend.

Flashback

Jimin laying on his bed studying when Taehyung barging in and jump at Jimin trapping him in koala hug squeezing the poor boy. "Tae! Get off" Jimin squirming trying to get off of his best friend hold "Chim listen to me! I was planning to borrow a book at the library near university today, BUT I was too late" jimin sigh "Tae you can just borrow it another day" his best friend rolls his eyes "But chim~ that book is popular people would always take it and I really want to read it" he pouts.

Jimin raise his hand and pat his best friend head before rubbing it hard "Alright I'll go check on it whenever I have time" Taehyung flashing his boxy smile toward his buddy "Thanks chim~ love ya" Jimin smiles back "Love you too weirdo, now tell me the book title" Taehyung giggled "It's called The Songbird and the Sea by MissterMaia"

End of flashback

Jimin keeps running until he's out of the alley near the library, he bends down slightly hands on his knees taking steady breath and walks into the library, he's been here for few times to get medical book for his study so he knows the librarian well, but not tonight since he always comes at the afternoon, library at night have different atmosphere, it gives mysterious vibe.

He walks towards the librarian desk and saw a pale handsome man with glasses staring at him "Hello, what can I help you with?" He shudder at the low sound from the man "Ah yes I'm looking for a book by MissterMaia" the librarian nods his head and point his finger at the left "Go to aisle 17 you can find their works there" Jimin said his thanks and went there.

On his way he looks around and sees it packed with many people, he was wondering and curious about this library being 24/7 does people really borrow book in the middle of night but then it's nothing weird considering his university have night class and literally also 24/7.

Reaching on aisle 17 he starts searching the book, few moments later he found the author 'Hmm.. No Spell Can Cure Shyness, Movie Night, Siren's Quest, Barbershop Romance... The Song- found it!' after browsing through he finally found what he looking for.

He take the book from the shelf and turn around to leave but then he tripped and fall into stacks of books making the books raining down on him, he frantically searching for the book he lost during the fall then his eyes drawn to a book under the pile, he shouldn't be distracted when he need to find something more important but something about that book seems intriguing, he slowly lift his hand reaching it eyes blank like he was under a spell, his hand keeps getting closer by the seconds just as his hand almost grab it a music played and he was startled he takes out his phone from his pocket earning protests from the people, he apologized before he take the call "Hel-" "JIMIN WHERE ARE YOU?!" He winced from the loud voice pierced his ear "Calm down hyung, I'm at the library near university" "Really??" Hoseok ask with suspicion in his tone "Yep really hyung, I just remembered the promise I made with Tae to borrow this book so..." "Alright at least inform me first kay? I was so worried.." he can hears his hyung voice breaking slightly at the end "I'm sorry hyung.." he feels guilty he should've called him after he woke up earlier "It's great that you're okay, go home safely kay?" "I will and sorry hyung" they ended the phone call.

Jimin pocketed his phone and looks back at the pile of books to sees the book he looking for was on top, he raise an eyebrow confused but he shrugs it off and took it, he also took a few books by the same author before he go meet the librarian to borrow these books.

"Do you have membership card?" "Yes" he nods before he gives the card to the pale man, the man took it and scan it. "Alright that'll be 50,000 won for 5 books 10 days" the librarian says while giving him back his card and a bag of books, Jimin furrow his eyebrows hearing the librarian 'Didn't I took 4 with me?' "Something wrong?" The librarian ask worriedly, Jimin take glance at the name tag "It's nothing Wonwoo" Jimin smile slightly and take his card and the bag, he says goodbye to the librarian and go home.

Reaching home he open the ebony double door "I'm home" he says softly leaning down to take his shoes off  "Chim you're finally back let's play!" He lift his head fast when he hears his best friend voice but only emptiness awaits him, he rubs his face feeling tired from all these hallucinations he gets after his best friend passed away days ago.

"Welcome home Jimin" Hoseok said coming out from living room "Did you had diner yet?" Before Jimin could reply his stomach let out a mighty roar making Hoseok laugh and Jimin face red from embarrassment "I'll go heat the left over and make you sandwich go wait at the counter" Jimin follows Hoseok to the kitchen leaving his stuffs at the entrance.
