Present
"I think I should go"
I blink my eyes really hard to be brought back to reality. However, this isn't enough. I shake my head and rub my eyes violently. I'm screaming and shaking my body as if I'm drowning under water. I'm drowning with feelings of the past I've made my self avoid.
"Yeah I'm going to go"
"Then FREAKING go David!" I yell with annoyance.
He looks at me with hurt in his eyes and confusion. What? Does he not remember? He was kidnapped too. I watched him get-. Forget it. I grab his food off the table and rip it apart. I throw everything that was on the table on to the marble floor. I hear people coming asking what is going on. I leave them with the mess and run.
I run out of my favorite diner and tumble home. I'm tripping across rocks and sticks but I let them cut me on the sides of my legs. I love it. I take off my shoes to let my feet get scraped from the paving of the sidewalk. I see glass but its too late to avoid it. Glass gets stuck in my feet, but I keep running.
I see my house from a far distance and feel tears being dropped from my eyes. The cuts in my feet are starting to burn painfully. I turn around and see more blood then what I thought I shed. I run away from it as fast as I could, as if I was running for my life. In a second, I'm at the door of my house beating and screaming.
"SOMEONE PLEASE OPEN UP PLEASE"
8 year old Danielle
The brown door which is located on the far left of where I am standing opens up. The old man with the green eyes of hunger stands before it and throws a plate towards me on the floor. I understand that something could be seriously wrong with the food but I pay no mind towards those worries.
I run as fast as I could to the plate of food. As the man sees me running he grins and slams the door. The food looks like mushed brown slop. It is the worst food that I have ever tasted! The aftertaste it leaves behind hints that it might be dog food. My body wants to throw it up but my mind doesn't send the nerves to do so. I get fed every so often and I really need to build up any strength that I can get.
To the right side of me there are two doors in each corner. One is red the other is black.
To the left of me there are two doors as well, with one being owned by the green eyed man and the other dark blue and claimed by a young boy.
One day I saw the dark blue door open. I usually sit in my room with no one to talk to whatsoever. As dangerous as this was, I took my chances.
I walk in to see a beautiful young boy that looks about my age. I walk in to touch him, to feel human contact. I step closer and take his hand. He grabs mine and kisses it.
My young heart is swelling up, beating longing for more. I want to feel safe and have someone protect me. I'm desperate.
He moves me out of his room which looks identical to mine and then closes the door.
"Bye Danielle"
I turn around shocked that he knows my name. Before I can question him he has already locked the door.
I sit in the middle of my room thinking hard about the situation that I am in. I'm questioning why I am here. I don't think me and that boy are alone. There might be a child held behind every door expect the brown one containing green eyes. I dart my eyes to the right side of the room and decide between the black or the red door. Red screams danger but black yells darkness. How much more danger can I get in? What do I have to lose? ..My life, well guess it's time to meet more neighbors.
