When I was eighteen, I moved out of Bradford and into central London. My mum lectured me for hours about what I needed to do in order to survive in London on my own. Most of it was silly, like 'don't waste money on cleaners, use vinegar' or 'pinterest is your friend' and even, 'buy bulk in dry foods, saves you money and the food won't go bad.'

I laughed and dismissed at all the tips my mother threw at me. Oh how I wish I wouldn't have. 'And finally, whatever you do; do NOT walk the streets of London alone at night.' I laughed and told my mum that she was just being overprotective and paranoid. Damn me for being so naive.
