“This is weird.” He said sort of moving his hand over his face. He was tired. Hell I was tired but I needed answers and he was willing to give them to me.
“What is weird?” I asked looking down.
“Me telling you about your life. Well we knew what we were signing up for.” He said laying back.
“What are you doing?” I asked looking over at him.
“Getting comfortable. This won’t be short.” He smiled lifting his head a bit. Then he patted the ground next to him. I leaned back and directed my eyes to the ever growing dark sky.
“I can only tell you from when I met you. You told me stuff from before but I don’t feel right telling you that stuff. For that you have to talk to Lou.”
“That is fine…Did you know Lou?”
“Lou was one of my first friends when I moved to Southfield.”
“That is….Home?”
“You home yes. You were born and raised there. I have no home.” He paused for a second and I turned my head to look at him. He stared up at the sky still, but he was biting his lip.
“You ok?” I asked softly. He leaned up on his elbow.
“NO I’m not. The whole point of us doing this was to forget. And now you want answers and…I don’t know I just thought…Well hoped it would be different.”
“If you don’t want to tell me you don’t have to.” I said leaning up on my elbow.
“Kelly I don’t think I have made myself clear. I will do whatever you want. If you want to know I will tell you. If you want to leave this place tomorrow I will drop everything and follow you. If you want to stay here and grow old and have babies, I will do that. I just want to be with you. That is all I have ever wanted from the first time I saw you.” His and lifted to me cheek. It felt right but wrong all at the same time.
“How about you just answer questions?” I asked softly.
“Ok.” He smiled before leaning back, directing his eyes to the sky again.
“Where Harry and I ever together?”
“Yes.” I paused biting my lip.
“You want more details?” He said looking over again. I nodded.
“You two grew up next door to one another. And your families were best friends. You liked each other but I think it had to do more with what your families wanted than what you wanted. He adored you but you were just going through the motions.” I nodded.
“And about your vision. You don’t have to tell me what they were about. I know you like to have your privacy.”
“Did I break up with Harry for you?” I snapped sounding a bit to eager.
“Yes….And no.”
“What does that even mean?” I asked scrunching my face.
“Harry and Louis were best friends. And I was their third wheel. And eventually you and I got close, because we always came over after school. And you and I would do homework together because we had a lot of the same classes. They are older.”
I nodded realizing this was obvious.
“Anyhow eventually we started to get feelings. You felt so guilty Kelly, which made me feel like shit. But we couldn’t help ourselves. We were just…We clicked.” He said crossing his legs and facing me. “You know. You can feel our connection even though you can’t remember it.” He said it so matter of fact it made me think he could read my mind. He was so right. I was drawn to him. I looked down at the grass and began to pluck a few pieces of it out of the ground. Suddenly I felt his finger under my chin, then he lifted it so our eyes met. “You feel it right?”
