Chapter eight~~players

The stars were almost as pretty as the view from the plane window earlier today. I just landed in Toronto with rock your hair and mummy brought me back to the hotel room for "rest". She went out to get a few snacks from the mall, and I've been sat at this window seat for nearly an hour. Just thinking. I haven't heard from Hayden since earlier this morning when we first boarded the flight, he was sat far from me with rush and Carson. I was sat with Hayley, brooke and Dylan. He never text me after the flight but rush tells me he's busy🤷🏼‍♀️confusing huh?
The door unlocks and mummy comes in, hands full of groceries and camera in hand. "So I'm gonna put the groceries away and then hopefully we'll be back for the question of the day" she smiled and put the camera down. "Hey Annie, you okay? I saw Brooke and rush down in reception, don't you wanna join them for a while?" I shook my head "I'm tired, I'll have an early night" I slowly picked myself up and walked into my room, closing the door. I always checked my phone before I went to bed, it was a habit. I usually get a goodnight text from Hayden but tonight I didn't. I put it on charge and climbed into bed.

The next morning

I woke up to the sound of the loudest laughing ever. It sounded just like Hayley and daddy. I jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs. Just as I expected, Hayley was standing at the bottom of the stairs with a suitcase and her cute smile "hayleyyyy, I missed you so much" I grabbed her and hugged her so tight we fell to the ground "okay okay I get it, don't smother me" she smiled and playfully slapped me. Daddy appeared from the other room, mommy following behind "where's my little princess" I ran to him and jumped, it had been way too long. "I missed you" he whispered and I nodded, tears falling from my eyes from happiness. "So Annie, where's Hayden?" Hayley raised an eyebrow and grabbed for my hand "I actually don't know" I looked down at the ground "I'll go and look I guess" I walked into the room and grabbed my phone off charge. A text had come through from Hayden at 11:04pm reading:

Hayden: hey Annie, sorry I haven't replied to your messages been super busy hanging out with the RYH team from Toronto, they're so cool! You'll love them when you meet them, anyway Im gonna go hit snooze for the night I love youuu❤️

That's strange. No desert name? No extra kisses or love hearts? And it seemed to friendly too. Something wasn't right. I messaged back.

Annie: hey Hayden? It's fine I fell asleep pretty early last night. Cool I'm glad they're nice. What're you doing today? Hayley & daddy just got home and they wanna meet? Text when your free?? Okay I love you too❤️❤️❤️x

I don't know what's going on. I'll just play it normal I guess...

"Annie?" I turn around to see Hayley standing in the door way "what's wrong? Has something happened with Hayden?" She looks concerned and comes to join me on the floor "look" I show her my phone and she quickly reads the texts "wow" "tell me about it" I rolled my eyes "have you guys argued?" She asked "no, we were fine before the flight yesterday? We sat together in the airport but as soon as we got on the plane it all began to feel different" I shrugged "look Annie, I'm sure he's just busy like he says okay? When he replies you'll know" she spoke to soon, my phone buzzed.

Hayden: okay babyyy :) how was your sleep? I'll be happy to meet them at around 12-1? Haven't we all got a meeting with the new rock your hair team anyways? I'll see you there okay? I'll be looking for you, anyway I gotta go but I'll text you whenever I get time, see you in a few💘x

I show my phone to Hayley again. "That's it girl. When I see this Hayden imma give him a piece of my mind" we giggle "let's go" she helps me up and we go get freshened up, new face of makeup and a new outfit to match the sunny Toronto weather.

"Annie! Hayley! Are you ready?" Mommy shouted from the hall "coming mom" we race to the front door and lock it behind us. My phone buzzes again in my back pocket as I sit in the car. I grab it and begin scrolling through my Instagram feed. So many messages about me and Hayden popping up all over my screen.

I smile and a text comes through from a unknown number, curiously I open it.

07757213456: hey Annie right? It's Mackenzie, Hayden's friend. Remember me! From Brooke's little party ages ago, truth or dare? Hayden gave me your number Cus I'm part of the Toronto RYH team, Cool huh? Me and him are on our way to the meeting now, see you there :) x

My guts ache as I read. That's where Hayden's been. With Mackenzie or however you spell the girls name. Why didn't he tell me? Boy is this meeting gonna be good fun, not.

The car pulls up outside a huge building with no name. It's boring looking, no colour, the windows have blinds so you can't see in, it's dirty and looks so old. We walk in and a table full of people awaits us. I'm the corner I spy a girl with glorious looking brunette hair, another girl with the same coloured hair and Hayden. I smile but he doesn't see he's too busy laughing with them. I sit down with Brooke, she leans over to me as I sit down. "What the hell is going on with him? Is he going crazy?" She points to Hayden, she looks super cross. I look over at him "I honestly have no idea" we listen to what the RYH crew have to say to us. As the man is speaking I kinda lose my focus, I look over in Hayden's direction and he catches my eye and smiles. I don't smile back, I just look away. I don't know how to react.

At the end of the meeting I begin to walk out, not paying attention to the world around me. I need air so that's where I'm going. I walk through some double doors into a garden like green space filled with flowers and a swing fit for around 4 people. I sit down and grab my phone.

Hayden: where are you?

Before I can reply a voice frightens me- "hey" it's Hayden. I don't even bother looking up. "Annie, what's wrong?" I just shake my head, I have no words. "Annie seriously please? Speak to me"
"Mackenzie huh? Why does she have my number?" I look into his eyes and he grabs my hand "she's a friend of a friend. Look I don't know what's gotten into you but-" he's cut off by another voice "hey Hayden, your dad said he'll take us to lunch! Let's go quick" he nods at her and she leans herself against the doorway waiting. "Annie look, let's talk about this later okay? I'll be at your at 8 tonight I promise" he kisses me on the forehead and runs off with Mackenzie "ugh" I groan and I lay face first on the swing.
