As I got back to the office, I see someone waiting in the lobby. As I walk through the door, I realize I know who this is. Jason Starr. Oh. Crap.
Why the heck is he here??
I walk in and try to quickly pass going unnoticed. But as I head toward the back writing office, I feel a strong hand grab my arm. I had to stop because I knew I was going to drop the coffees if I didn't. Turning around, I find an angry Jason, looking like he is going to burst. But instead, in a low, soft voice, he says, "Is there a private room we can go to? We have to talk."
"Um, okay?" I squeak out.
I start walking towards my personal dressing room. I normally don't use it, but if I have to do an in-house interview then it's good for touchups. Otherwise it isn't used.
"In here." I whisper as I push the door in.
He steps in and finds the light switch while I set down the coffees and sit on the couch.
"We need talk." He starts.
I look into his eyes and see they are filled with sadness and a tear is starting to form.
"Are you alright?" I stupidly ask.
"No!" He practically yelled, then proceeded to break down crying.
"Christine hates me and thinks I'm a cheat because of you! She was the best thing that ever happened to me until some stupid reporter made it look like I was kissing her in the middle of a parking lot! Now I lost the only one that meant anything to me, and you destroyed it!"
I looked at the floor, unable to meet his eyes.
"Look at me." He demanded.
I glanced up and saw a broken man. Not knowing what to do, I let my body react and stood up to hug him. Finally finding my voice, I spoke.
"I am so sorry Jason, I didn't think and messed up so badly. How can I fix this?"
"Tell Christy I didn't cheat, and don't put out the story."
"Jason, I can't." I breathed. "The story is already in the writer's shop, and I can't get it back."
His eyes darkened scarily.
"Find a way. Talk to the writer, destroy the story, say you forgot the details. I. Don't. Care. Just clear my name or I swear you will be regret it."
I was speechless.
"Are we understood?" He asked as he crossed his arms.
"Yes Jason, but I can't promise anything."
"Then I can't promise anything either." He snapped, then proceeded to walk out the door briskly.
Well crap. I thought.
