Yay, chapter one! I was cringing so much when I was rewriting this and I ended up rewriting most of it >_<

Anyway, I hope you like how the story starts :)

Oh, and yes, Merc is short for Mercury.

Prologue: Athene and Artemis

A loud knock on the door awoke Artemis. "Hermes? Is that you?" she drowsily asked. "Yeah, it's me" came a muffled reply from behind the door. Artemis opened the door with a simple spell. "What message have you got for me today, Merc?" Hermes conjured himself a chair and seated himself in font of Artemis' desk. "The message comes from Athene," Hermes cleared his throat a began the message. " Hello sister dear," Athene's voice came out of Hermes' throat. Artemis had never quite gotten used to that. "Would you please -as soon as Hermes dear delivers this message- get to my chambers? I have some urgent things I want to discuss with you," Artemis didn't really know what to think. Her sister never asked her to visit, she would always come herself. or just send all the information through a message... "Diana..." Hermes' voice brought her back to reality. "Do you think she found out about..?" he wearily asked as he paced the room. She never thought about that! She sprung up from her chair, but quickly dismissed the thought. "No Merc, I doubt it," She wrapped her arms around him. “Dia…” Hermes’ voice trailed off into nothingness. They stood there like that for a while, then Artemis quietly said “We should go, we shouldn’t keep my sister waiting.” “Okay” Hermes reluctantly replied.

Olympus wasn’t necessarily what you would call huge, but it was definitely big. The whole place had four floors above ground and three below ground. Each god had his own chambers and they were the only one able to open the doors to them. Artemis’ chambers were on the fourth floor. She requested her chambers to be moved there after the fourth floor was constructed because she wanted to have a breezy room atop Olympus. Her sister’s chambers were on the second floor and were among the largest on Olympus. Of course Athene was expected to have big chambers since she was the head tactician and army commander.

A sharp tug to her side awoke her once again from her thoughts. “You should stop trailing off Artemis, you nearly hit a wall.” Hermes said jokingly. “Oh sorry, I’m just…” She paused a bit “tired… nothing more” The truth was, she was completely lost in thought. She kept thinking back to Hermes’ message. Why would her sister call her all of a sudden? Was she just very busy? She hoped that was it. If she found out well… That would be bad. A loud knock yanked her out of her thoughts once again. When did they get here? Was she really so absently present? "Artemis dear is that you?” Athena’s voice came from behind the door. ”Yes, she's with me," The lock clicked and the door opened. “I didn’t ask you to come Hermes, I only asked for Artemis. You can leave and do your own errands.” Athena’s voice sounded stern, almost cold and Artemis was getting kind of worried. Why was her usually calm and kind sister sounding so cold all of a sudden? “Please do come in sister dear!” Athene conjured Artemis a chair and beckoned her forward. Artemis sat down and waited for Athena to start talking. Athena let out a sigh and let her head swoop low from its usually dominant leader’s glare. She lifted her head back up and Artemis saw it now. Athena’s eyes were sunken in, her face slightly wrinkled. She probably hadn’t slept in days, knowing her, maybe even weeks! “Oh sister dear… If only you knew what was going on…” Athena sighed.
