grace's pov
my head was pounding as i lifted it up from the pillow on the carpet floor of our living room. jeez, it's a wreck in here. everyone was sleeping still, so i threw my hair up, plugged my headphones in, and blasted music in my ears as i made everyone breakfast. i was dancing around and sizzling bacon in a pan when i felt a soft kiss on my cheek. i turned around to see a very tall, dread-headed boy standing behind me.
"good morning, cheeto head." i said, laughing. he rolled his eyes and leaned against the sink.
"you're up early, huh?" he said, grabbing an apple from the counter. i giggled and face palmed.
"it's almost 12, zi."
"yeah, my statement remains. the sun is in the sky, it's early for me, okay g?" he took a dip of the pancake batter and dotted it on my nose, nonchalantly walking away. i gasped and laughed. i took the bacon out of the pan and turned around to see dahlia rolling slowly off the couch before walking up to her room. i laughed and finished making breakfast before carrying it to the table.
"where is everyone?" i asked. zion looked up at me for a moment before responding.
"i'm pretty sure more than half of the us are extremely hungover."
we laughed and kept talking.
"so, do i still get to take you out on that date?" he asked, smiling like an idiot. i returned the smile, blushing slightly.
"of course. what did you have in mind?" i asked.
"oh don't you worry about that, just dress up casual and you'll see when we get there. i plan to leave around 7:30 so be ready." he said. i nodded and smiled, continuing to eat before i remembered something i'd been meaning to talk to him about.
"z, you're good friends with dahlia right?" i asked. he nodded and asked why.
"well, i'm kind of worried about her. apparently yesterday she walked in on cynthia and austin, but she wouldn't admit that she was upset. she drowned herself in tequila shots and by then, i think she kind of forgot." i admitted.
"are you serious? im gonna kick porter's ass. but first, we need to make sure she's okay."
dahlia's pov
"8 april 2018::
i shook it off, buried it far beneath the booze, but i couldn't escape the sadness which blanketed me like a fresh sheet. his hands on her waist, her hands in his hair, i couldn't get the god awful image out of my head. i didn't want to see him, i most definitely didn't want to see her, and i wasn't planning on it. i know, i forgave him like nothing yesterday, but i was drunk. i guess you could say he was intoxicated too, but lust is not to blame anymore. if he didn't want to, he wouldn't have. austin is but a rose which is seemingly beautiful, yet sharp to the touch. i wish i could just love him, i wish i had the mental capacity to love someone right now."
my writing was interrupted when cynthia walked in my room. it's gonna take everything in me not to snatch this bitch's wig, i thought.
"hey, dahlia! how are you?" she said, smiling like nothing happened.
"i'm fine." i said, shortly. she walked over, flipping her hair.
"you don't seem fine. something wrong?" she asked with a wicked smile. i gave her a weird look, standing up.
"look, do you want something? i'm not in the mood." i asked.
"you may not be in the mood, but austin sure was yesterday. am i right?" she smirked. i laughed, as if i was only held by a thread from going off the rails.
"get the fuck out." i laughed.
"why are you upset? your boo isn't into you anymore, just face the facts. i mean, surely this isn't the first time that someone took your boyfriend." she laughed. now listen up, ladies. in any other circumstance, in any other world, i'd say "stay classy", but i couldn't resist. i smacked her deadass across her right cheek and she fell to the floor.
"get out." i said, for the final time. she scoffed, holding her bruised cheek, and slammed my door while storming down the stairs. i huffed and sat on my bed, hugging a pillow. i felt hot tears start to roll down my cheeks and i remembered everything she said. what if she was right? ugh. i walked to my closet and grabbed my biggest hoodie. i sighed, knowing it was austin's. i felt more tears come as i just layed in my bed and watched the fan spin on my ceiling.
grace's pov
i was still talking to zion when cynthia came storming down the stairs, holding her cheek.
"cynthia, are you okay?" i asked, walking over to her, zion following me. she turned to me and let her hand down, revealing her red, already bruised cheek.
"woah, what happened to you?!" zion screamed.
"i'm not even gonna admit what i just went through, but tell dahlia if she ever lays another finger on me i swear i'll -"
"slow your roll, sis. that's my best friend, you tryna catch these hands?" i asked before zion pushed me back.
"baby, she's not worth it," he said to me before turning around.
"cynthia, youve caused hella trouble. just go, please." he said politely. cynthia glared at us before walking out the door. zion turned back over to me and laughed.
"you were gonna murder her, grace!! that was extremely hot." he said laughing. i laughed and kissed him shortly.
"forget about me, i cant believe dahlia hit that bitch! that's my girlllll." i said laughing. we sat on the couch and watched friends for awhile before i left to get ready for the big date.
austin's pov
i knocked lightly at dahlia's doorframe when i saw her crying in bed, she had my hoodie on.
"d, you okay?" i asked, walking over to her. she sniffles and wiped her tears under her glasses.
"why'd you do it, austin?"
"i'm sorry. i don't know how it happened. i don't want her, i love you. i need you to know that." i said softly grabbing her hand. she looked at me and kissed me before looking down.
"i get it, i just feel weird now." she said, sighing. i bowed my head down for a moment, then i got a great idea. i grabbed her hand again and ran down the stairs, jumping onto the comfy couch cushions.
"movie night? i'll order food." i said, smiling. she nodded and kissed my cheek as she rested her head on my chest and we scrolled through netflix. we watched half an episode of black mirror when grace came sprinting down the stairs.
"where are my shoes!?" she screamed, running around like crazy. dahlia laughed and pointed to the garage, grace running over to them soon after.
"whew, i'm ready." she said, looking at zion who came walking out of the kitchen. he pecked her and squeezed her cheeks.
"fuck, you look so cute! ready to go?" he asked, smiling. damn, i've never seen z so happy. she nodded and they playfully walked to the door.
"later guys!" grace yelled as they slammed the door shut. another episode passed by before the food arrived and dahlia got up to get it. we munched out on our door dashed sushi and cuddled the whole night.
grace's pov
"can i PLEASE take my blindfold off?" i asked, giggling. he gripped my hand tighter as i heard the car engine stop and his car door opening. i'm assuming he ran around to the other side since my door opened also.
"not yet, baby! almost." he said, i could practically hear him smiling. we took a couple steps before we stopped and he grabbed my shoulders, turning me to face the other direction.
"okay, go ahead." he said with anticipation. i slowly unraveled the bandana tied around my eyes to reveal his car parked at the beach with the sun just setting and the waves crashing. it was a spot with fairy lights all around it and chairs with blankets. he pulled out a picnic basket with in n out, chicken strips, french fries, and all my other favorite foods. i felt my eyes starting to water as i covered my mouth in awe. i turned to face him with the most adorable, eager expression painted on his face.
"caleb zion kuwonu, this is the sweetest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me." i said, a tear falling. he wiped my tear and kissed me passionately, looking in my eyes and staring right through me.
"i love you, grace." he said, smiling.
"i love you more." i said, hugging him tightly. we spent a few hours just eating, talking, watching the waves crash as the ocean winds blew wildly, we even sipped vodka punch from a plastic water bottle. the night was filled with many kisses, many laughs, and lots of love. around 10, we drove back and stopped in the driveway of the house. he stopped me from opening my door and just looked at me. he grabbed something from his pocket and placed it in my hand.
"zion, what is th-"
"just open it, g." he cut me off. i slowly opened the red box and gasped.

"it says c because you're the only person allowed to call me caleb

"it says c because you're the only person allowed to call me caleb." he laughed. i hugged him tightly and pulled my hair back as he clasped it around my neck. we went inside and saw austin and dahlia sprawled over the couch, cuddling silently. this is so wholesome, i cant.
"aren't they the cutest?" i asked, smiling.
"not as cute as us, lil mama." he kissed my nose. that night, i fell asleep happy.
