"What happened?" Zeren arrived at the hospital together with Xinchun and Wenjun.

Zhengting who was already there motioned for them, "I didn't know it was that serious."

"I'm guessing her dad was drunk again?"

Xinchun nods at Zeren's statement, "That's the only logical explanation."

"When did it happen?" Wenjun asked, getting the idea.

"Two nights ago," The older whispered. "Her mom and brother were out that day. As soon as they came back, Meizen was already unconscious."

Xinchun shivered at the thought of seeing Meizen on the floor, "Did they call the police?"

Zhengting nodded, "But he's on the run. I mean - who does that to their own daughter?"

Zeren bit his lip before speaking, "What did the doctors say?"

"They saw a few bruises on her body and her thighs." Zhengting explained. "They're still examining her but they don't know if she'll wake up. According to them, she hit her head pretty hard."

"Plus she has a heart ailment," Xinchun muttered, fiddling with his fingers.

Wenjun tapped his foot on the floor, "What are we going to do now?"

"We'll wait," Zhengting said, assuring the kids that everything was going to be okay.

Cheng Cheng was standing outside of Meizen's room. It's been 8 hours ever since Zhengting told them her whereabouts. She hasn't woken up yet. The doctors are doing the best they can to treat her well.

He looked at his watch and it was already 11 pm. He kept ignoring the call of his sister and his mom.

"I didn't know you were still here," Lili suddenly arrived beside him.

Cheng Cheng furrowed his eyebrows, "What are you doing here?"

"My sister works here," She said. "I came thinking that you may need some company."

"The only company I want is Mei's. Not yours."

Lili nods, "Figure you'd say that. Just so you know, Quanzhe broke off our relationship."

The boy scoffed, "He realized I was right and broke up with you after finding out that Meizen's in the hospital? Pathetic."

Lili was quick to shook her head. "You mean— he didn't tell you guys?"

"Tell us what?"

"He broke up with me on Christmas Day," Lili admits, tilting her head to the side. "He met up with Meizen after that, telling her he wants to be together."

Cheng Cheng widens his eyes, not believing a single word coming out from Quanzhe's ex-girlfriend. "You're lying."

"Why would I lie?" She defends herself.

"If you're telling the truth, then continue the story," Cheng Cheng said, leaning in.

Lili sighed, "They met at the park and talked. They promised to meet each other again on the 27th but that day, Meizen was acting weird. She was telling Quanzhe that she's too busy and can't meet up with him. Quanzhe got a bit annoyed, you know how his temper is - and told her that if she's ready then they'll meet up."

"But Quanzhe said their last chat was on Christmas," He interrupted.

"Quanzhe didn't want you guys to know. That was supposed to be their surprise for the new year," Lili explained. "A few hours later, Quanzhe received a text from Meizen saying not to talk to her anymore."
