It's been years since Miles Edgeworth has seen you, his exceptional assistant. Your on-the-job training ended abruptly and you continued your studies, away from the prosecuting offices. It was hard for Miles to forget about you because of several reasons.

One, it may have been only three months but you were memorable to him. You were more persistent than his trusted detective, Dick Gumshoe, and to him, that was saying something. Two, these memories brought about feelings he wasn't sure how to deal with. And finally, you swore that you wouldn't lose contact. It was a promise you didn't intend to break.

Miles was in the middle of a tough case. He was convinced that the defendant was innocent, but as a prosecutor, he couldn't simply retract his claims. He relied on his friend on the defense, Phoenix Wright, but he had to do his part as well. He had to somehow procure decisive evidence. He sat in his office with his head in his hands, leaning against his table. He's already sent out Gumshoe to scope the scene and gather witnesses. Only then did the thought of you cross his mind.

"If you were here... _____," He mumbled out loud, "What would you suggest..?" Miles groaned in agitation. His eyes landed on his tea set, something that also reminded him of you. The memory was crystal clear.

"Good afternoon, Miles!" Your sweet voice immediately greeted him as he entered his office after another case won in truth. He looked up at you, his usual frown on his face. You were by the window, holding a cup of tea for him while smiling brightly.

"_____, good afternoon. Have you cleaned the office?" He asked to which you nodded enthusiastically. Miles sat down in his chair and sighed tiredly.

"Yes, sir. Spotless, as you requested. I've also returned evidence from closed cases to the precinct while you were away." You held out his tea proudly. He took a sip and hummed.

"Your brewing has improved." He smiled softly, looking into the cup. You giggled and sat down on the sofa not too far from his table.

"I'm glad, sir! I've been listening to your suggestions, and this is what I came up with. So I couldn't have done it without you!" You smiled once more, a happy blush on your cheeks. He took another sip to hide his own pinkish cheeks. "Sir, do you think I'll be a good detective?"

Miles put down his tea cup and raised an eyebrow at you. "You study to be a detective? That's news to me, _____. Why haven't you told me before?" You nodded quietly at his question, waiting for an answer. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes in thought. "I suppose... You'd be a decent one, considering your skills in organization. If you want to be one of the best, I suggest you work on your logic." He opened his eyes to see you taking down notes.

"Thank you, Miles. I'll be sure to remember that." You softly smiled at him, something he always wanted to see.

------------------------

Miles was woken up from his reverie as a knock came from his door. He called out that it was open and sure enough, it opened revealing a young woman.

You had several folders in one of your arms as you entered slowly. Your eyes darted around, taking in the environment that you remember. You smiled, seeing how nothing much changed in the time you were gone. Closing the door, your long detective coat fluttered around your figure as you stood tall and saluted to him.

He only stared at you from his table. It took him a while to recognize you. To him, you looked so different compared to the student he last saw you as. You looked respectable, reliable, and most of all, more attractive than ever. He finally moved to stand up.

"_-____? Is that... Is that really you?" A faint blush grew on his cheeks as you nodded sternly.

"I'm here under orders from Detective Gumshoe, Mr. Edgeworth." Your voice was firm and serious and he wasn't quite familiar with it. "Our investigation has finally turned up a witness willing to testify against the defendant. We believe them to be our true culprit." You walked over to him, your heels clicking against the floor. He watched you come near him, feeling his heartbeat quicken.

"Good... Good work." Was all he could say since he was so distracted. You held out your folders to him and the memory flashed in his mind again. The image of you now overlapped the image of you handing him his tea.

"Is everything okay, Mr. Edgeworth?" Your soft voice brought him out of his thoughts. He cleared his throat and finally took the papers.

"Ah- Ah, y- yes. I'm alright." He sighed deeply and skimmed through the reports. While he looked through the papers, you took your chance to admire him.

Your heart skipped a beat as you looked up at him. It instantly made you blush just being in his presence again. You may have looked serious as you walked in, but only the guards in the hallway know how long it took you to calm yourself down before knocking on his door. Even the witness looked at you weirdly.

You've lost contact with him because you decided to focus solely on your studies, something he would've wanted you to do. Now, you were the accomplished detective you wanted to be and you can finally be by Miles' side. You gulped, trying to suppress your fast heart beat. He finally looked at you.

"Again, great work, Detective _____. I assume the witness is outside?" He noticed your cheeks and looked away, his faded blush returning.

"Y- Yes, sir. I can call him in on your orders." You squeaked out.

"Please do." He coughed and turned his back on you to go to his desk but also to hide his full blown redness from you. As soon as he turned away, you smiled widely and cupped your cheeks. Going for the door, you looked back at him and called out from the hallway.

"Let's catch up once we win this case, okay, Miles?" Your giggle was the last thing he heard before the door closed. He smiled blissfully at the thought and nodded to himself, feeling the unease from earlier finally disappearing.

"I'd like that."
