A few hours after Stiles had dropped her off, Auden had finished her homework and showered, turning her nighttime playlist on low and throwing herself back onto her bed. Staring up at the ceiling, she watched her fan rotate slowly, losing herself in her thoughts.
The rational part of her knew that Stiles had been joking about Scott being a werewolf, and thus far in her life, Auden had been given no evidence that the supernatural existed. However, some of the things Stiles had said were niggling at her, like the fact that Scott had been able to smell the gum, the way he'd reacted to the whistle, and most importantly, the fact that he was now apparently a lacrosse superstar.
Neither twin was the picture of athleticism, both of them boasting a long list of ridiculous injuries that would've surely landed them in the hospital if Melissa wasn't a nurse.
Auden wasn't sure how much time had passed before the front door banged open and shut, Scott pounding up the stairs. There was a knock at her bedroom door, and she looked up to see it opening, Scott in the doorway with a too wide smile on his face.
"Hey..." she said, raising an eyebrow at him. "...you look like a serial killer."
Scott's smile didn't go away, if anything getting wider as he walked across the room, throwing himself onto the end of Auden's bed.
"Is there a reason you're this happy, or did you get into the catnip at work?"
Scott scoffed, his foot kicking out and connecting with Auden's leg.
"A dog was brought in that got hit by a car."
Auden sat up, narrowing her eyes at him.
"And you're happy about that, why?"
"Allison was the one who hit it." Scott said with a smirk.
"Oh, well that explains things a little more...I was worried that you were starting to find joy in the pain of small animals. Definitely a sign of being a serial killer, you know."
Scott rolled his eyes at his twin, but was unable to wipe the smile off his face.
"Well, are you planning on telling me what happened when Allison hit the dog, or are you just going to sit there with that creepy smile on your face?"
"She brought the dog in, in her trunk, so I carried it in and I let her borrow my shirt because she'd been in out in the rain, and-"
"Such a gentleman, Scotty! Mom would be so proud." Auden couldn't help but interrupt him, enjoying any opportunity she had to give him a hard time. Reaching out, she ruffled his hair, further annoying him. "And then what happened?"
"I splinted to dog's leg so that it'd be comfortable until Deaton looks at it tomorrow."
Scott clearly wasn't catching on to the fact that Auden was referring to what had happened between he and Allison, typical boy, and she smacked at his shoulder.
"And...?"
Scott's goofy grin turned smug, and Auden could practically see his ego inflating.
"And she agreed to go to Lydia's party with me on Friday."
Auden could feel her eyes widen, not sure if she was more surprised that he'd gotten a date, or that he'd actually asked. It wasn't that Scott was bad looking, but he was awkward, and other than her and Stiles, didn't have many friends.
"Aw! My little Scotty is all grown up!" Reaching across the bed, Auden pinched his cheek, laughing as he swatted at her hand.
"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, Odd. You're just jealous that I've got a date, and none of the band boys from your posters have confessed their love for you yet."
