A/N: From here on out, things are going to start getting intense. I've got the basis of about four more chapters after this, so hopefully there'll be a few more updates soon. Enjoy!

It had taken the drive home, and then better part of half an hour after for Auden to convince Melissa she was in fact fine, and not dying or suffering some kind of catastrophic life event. In the end, it had been Scott that had come to her rescue, crafting a story about the fly about the ridiculous amount of homework they'd gotten from Harris, and how he was sure everyone in the class was feeling the same, himself included. Auden smiled gratefully across the table at him as the three of them ate a makeshift dinner of whatever was in the fridge, something that had happened with increasing frequency since their dad left, and Melissa had started taking more shifts at the hospital. After dinner, they all headed to their respective rooms, where Auden was once again left alone with her thoughts.

She spent a large portion of the night, and the next day at school thinking about whether or not she should confront Stiles about the books he'd taken out. A part of her wanted to believe it was just Stiles, that he'd been playing a video game and felt the sudden need for an influx of supernatural information. However, thoughts of Scott's performance at lacrosse tryouts plagued her, and Auden realized her fears, no matter how ridiculous they seemed, might be somewhat founded.

By the final bell the next day, Auden had made up her mind, walking past her house at the end of the school day, and continuing towards Stiles'.

She shouldn't have been as nervous as she was, but her heart was pounding wildly in her chest as she rang the doorbell, nervously tapping her foot against the welcome mat. The sounds of footsteps coming down the hallway were audible through the front door, and time seemed to drag on as she waited for the door to open. When it finally opened, the sheriff was on the other side, in uniform, meaning he was either on his way to work, or had just gotten home from a shift.

"Auden!" He said brightly, "here to keep my delinquent son in line?"

Auden laughed, glad for his sense of humor as she felt a bit of the tension in her releasing, and she sent him a small salute.

"As always, sir. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it."

"Well then, by all means, sweetheart, come on in. He's been in his room since he barged through the door fifteen minutes ago. I don't know what he's doing, but I haven't heard any explosions, so you should be safe." He gestured for Auden to enter, stepping aside to let her pass.

As Auden walked into the house, Mr. Stilinski shut the door behind her, and headed into the kitchen for what she was sure was a snack that wouldn't be found on Stiles' approved list. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, she did her best to keep her breaths deep and even, knowing that hyperventilating wouldn't help anything.

Knocking twice on the door, Auden heard nothing but the frantic clicking of a keyboard and rifling of papers. She took that as her cue to walk in, snorting quietly when Stiles jumped in his seat, turning to glare at her.

"Why?" Stiles spluttered.  "Why do you feel the need to do that to me? One day, you're going to give me a heart attack, and I'm going to die, and you're going to be so upset, because you love me so much and-"

"Stiles," Auden tried to interrupt.

"-my father would be upset, and do you want that on your conscience?"

"STILES!"

Stiles froze, inhaling deeply. His cheeks ruddy from his rant.

"Sorry. Sorry, I took a lot of Adderall today. What's up?"
