It was a rather cold and cloudy day, but of course nobody inside the hospital was aware of that; no, inside those plain white walls everything remained the same day after day. No wonder why time appeared to work differently.
Everything was in complete silence inside the isolation area, and it wasn't due to the soundproof glass but the echo of loneliness floating around in a big dark aura.
Seven days, five hours and eighteen minutes... a pitiful, meaningless and short amount of time for every other free individual with a healthy mind and normal life, but this wasn't the case. Seven days, five hours and eighteen minutes .Maybe we can elucidate, for this is the busy week of a student with a booked agenda and loads of paperwork to turn in, unaware of when Saturday appeared. Or a week long trip with friends to the beach. But seven days, five hours and eighteen long minutes was longer than a lifetime for a lonely skeleton trapped behind a contention glass in a hall of empty corridors and extremely quiet area. Alone in a three-times-secured room with a stuffed animal as company, but was he? Little they knew this skeleton was never alone.
The main door opened after a short high sound and Undyne stepped in, whistling softly the Waterfall's tune.
—Mornings, punk. Doctor Alphys will be here anytime with your meds, don't try anything weird. —She was a rather muscular and tall guard, her blue scales and red hair gave the hall a little bit of colour.
Sans rubbed his eye with the long sleeve of his straight jacket, which had been untied for a while. He mumbled something that the fish lady wasn't able to understand and then sat closer, next to the glass.
—Did they arrive already? —his voice sounded sad and dry.
—Frisk? No. Neither has doctor Toriel, so you'll have to wait. Remember Frisk started arriving after your shots, recently, so you could sleep.
—Right. —sighed before mumbling again.
Undyne adjusted the straps of her eyepatch. —Stop that. There's nobody else in here, Sans.
When she left, the door closed and the hall had sunk in complete silence again, the skeleton rolled up the sleeves revealing his arms full of colourful band- aids.
—Why are you taking so long, buddy?
—They are just a human, try not to expect much of them. —A strange voice filled the room.
—Again with that, brother? You are way too suspicious about Frisk. They are different, plus...they say you.
A much taller and thinner skeleton appeared in front of Sans.
—No. they di... d'ya know what? It doesn't matter anymore, just..- —He hugged his brother tightly, even tighter than the straight jacket. —Please be more careful big bro, I don't want that anybody else hurt you ever again.
—Thanks, Papyrus. I'll guess I should rest before they arrive.
But just as he finished that sentence the door beeped and opened.
Sans jumped to greet the newcomer after all the time that he had waited. —Frisk!
But instead of his friend he saw a short, slightly chubby, yellow lizard with huge glasses over her nose and a tray with medication. His smile softly dropped.
—I c-can recognise that f-face, seen it before. Actually many many se-several times, sorry for disappointing you.
—You are not a disappointment, Doctor Alphys. I actually like you; not at first, of course. Tee hee. Girl, you did knocked me off with those tranquillisers. But my brother and Frisk said that you are a nice doctor and the smartest one.
Sans pulled a pair of brand new band-aids from under the bed and walked to the small window to drop them.
—Here, take them.
—Aren't these yo-your special plasters? Why are you giving t-them away?
Sans pushed his face against the glass. —You said you liked anime. I remember because my brother likes that too. He calls himself an "Anime enthusiast", so I thought you would like the Mew Mew one, and the one with cute sea patterns is for Undyne, but I thought she would appreciate it more coming from you. Promise you won't tell her I gave it to you, make it special.
She looked at the coloured ones on his forehead and cheekbone. Of course she would know. —I p-promise but I still don't know w-why...
Because they are magical, they will make you feel better so just paste it on your skin and cheer up.
Alphys held the plaster between her fingers and proceeded to unwrap it. She was even more nervous than usual. After pulling her white coat's sleeve back she placed the paster over a silver and old scar. She smiled.
—Magical indeed. She kept Undyne's inside her pen pocket and grabbed the tray from the desk behind her. Since Sans was the only patient there was no need of constant supervision but instead they asked Undyne to make rounds every once in a while.
The doctor approached the second door an sled the ID card over the scanner. She took her time to prepare the shots and the pill, leaving dangerous objects there and only accessing with the medication inside her pockets. Even if the skeleton was stable at the moment, they couldn't assure he would remain that way.
—Okay, Sans. Let's do this quickly so you'll be ready when Frisk arrives.
She passed the card again and the door beeped after it was unlocked.
