—Listen to me, child. There's only one way to defeat Gaster. In this moment he is more powerful that me, than Sans and anyone else because he has more battle experience and his son hasn't shown his true potential yet. I do not approve violence and I would rather solve this like adults, but I will not risk my patients and psychotic or not, Sans is still my patient.

Toriel summoned a ring of orange flames which surounded the place and as the light covered everything, they were able to find the exit. Frisk pulled their mother's dress to show her the way.

At the distance you could hear Megalovania intensifying as the skeletons stared at each other ready for the first attack.

—So you really think you can win this, son? At your actual condition. Don't make me laugh, you haven't even developed your true magic skills. Surrender and give me your magic. I will let you and your friends go.

—I can't be that selfish, father. I am not like you.

—Indeed you are not. That's mainly the reason why your brother is dead, I would had been stronger enought to protect him from pityful humans.

     Sans opened his eyes widely.

—Don't listen to him, Sans. —Papyrus placed a hand on his brother's shoulder but he shrugged.

—See? —Gaster chuckled. —You are weak, worthless and no match for me.

Sans' eye glowed in colour blue.

—Perhaps I am, but I have friends and family who make me strong. —He summoned a Gaster Blaster. —I didn't come here to chat, surrender and fix what you have done.

Gaster summoned two. —Are you planning to use the old battle trick I taught you when you were a kid? You will need more than that to win.

—Gaster shot a laser attack and Papyrus pushed Sans away.

The ghost returned the attack with several bones emerging from the ground trying to hit Gaster.

—Can a ghost get killed?  After all you are just a floating soul...What do you think, Sans? Should we find out?

Gaster summoned a gigant hand with a hole in the palm and grabbed Papyrus soul squeezing it a little. The ghost's attacks stopped.

—Ahh —Papyrus complained from the pain. Even dead monsters were able to feel it when their souls were compromised.

—Cut it out! You want me, not him.

Sans shot several laser attacks trying to stop him but he blocked every single one and then threw Papyrus soul far away.

     —My turn.

A fireball hit Gaster in the head, Toriel was standing next to Frisk.

—What a terrible creature, torturing a poor, inocent youth —She scolded him.

—Oh my, Doctor Toriel. You found your way out. Such a clever woman.

Toriel frowned. —Frisk, get out of here. —She attacked again.

Gaster captured both Frisk and Toriel with the huge bone hands and smiled.

—How about this, you give me your soul and powers and I won't murder your friends.

     —Didn't I make myself clear?

—As you wish. Let's begin with the human.

Toriel tried to break free. —No!

Sans teleported infront of his friend and summoned a laser attack to block his magic.

—Over my dead body. Don't you dare to touch a single hair of their head.

—Very well, I'll kill you first. Remember what I told you when you were younger? Contrary to your brother, one hit and you are GAME OVER.

Sans' eye turned blue again and the real battle begun. Sans was able to dodge his father's attacks, somehow Frisk had shared with him their immense determination. Lasers were shot everywhere as he cornered Gaster until he couldn't escape.

     —Wait.

Sans was in a rage but managed to hold his final attack.

—You wouldn't hurt your own father...your only family alive.

—There won't be a single day that I won't regret this, father. I'm not even doing this for bloody revange. I'm doing this to make sure you won't torture any other monster or human ever again. If I let you live you will find your way back to trying to steal mine and other monsters' powers. So, If the prize of greater good is to carry your blood on my hands...so it be. Maybe you were right after all, I am a loony.

Sans directed his final attack towards his father, ready to kill him while trying his best not to hesitate.

—My destiny is to spend the rest of my days as an inpatient of that madhouse, alone. I've had accepted my fate. Now accept yours.

Someone pulled his sweater and he turned his head. Frisk looked at him in the eyes and smiled softly.

[Spare him] They signed. [You are more than this]

—They are right, brother. You don't have to carry that weight over your shoulders. Let Doctor Toriel lock him in the hospital.

     —Sans? —Toriel called him.

The Gaster Blasters disappeared and he walked away. Toriel tied Gaster and walked to the exit with him. Frisk tried to follow Sans but Papyrus stopped them.

—Let him be alone for a while, kid. It wasn't easy what he did, he was determined to kill our father even if that caused him more harm.

[Is he upset with me because I asked him to spare Gaster?]

—No, Frisk. He is upset with himself for considering murdering him.

Frisk nodded and watched his friend standing there still in shock.

—Let's return to the hospital, he needs to sleep. Too many wild emotions for one day. By the way, kid...thank you. My brother will be safe thanks to you, now I can say good bye to him and go to the afterlife in peace. You kept your promise, perhaps...not all humans are bad.

Sans, Frisk and Papyrus left Gaster's laboratory and walked to the Mental Hospital were Toriel was waiting for them. She didn't asked Sans to put his straight jacket on, so the skeleton entered inside the contention glass and jumped on his bed ready to sleep for days.

Frisk placed a hand on the glass and it blurred a little with the warmth of their skin. Looking at at their sleeping friend calmed them. Frisk left the hospital with their mother planning to visit their friend soon. They knew Papyrus would say goodbye to his brother that night so Frisk planned to bring some coloured band-aids and maybe a cool jokes book.

     Frisk smiled.
