CHAPTER I
Christine's POV
Everything was going downhill. Everyone was doing drugs, drinking too much and wrecking relationships. Mick wanting to bring another band into our turmoil wasn't definitely a brilliant idea.
We were in the recording studio in Los Angeles making the new album. Stevie was sitting on the black leather sofa writing something in her notebook. Probably more songs. She's like a song production machine of some sort. Lindsey and John were talking something near the soundboard and I was sitting behind my keyboard drinking fine German wine, my absolute favourite, when Mick stormed in, clearly excited.
"Guys! Guys!" he exclaimed. "Lindsey, John, come over here too." He asked us all to sit down and listen to him.
"Have you heard of Acker North?" he asked with a huge grin plastered on his face.
"Uhm, yeah sure, they're quite big and I think you introduced me to their guitarist once, Thomas wasn't it?" John mentioned.
"I know you know them but I actually meant Linds, Chris and Stevie here."
Lindsey and Stevie both looked confused and they shook their heads no. I poured another glass of wine and stared at Mick. I, on the other hand, had heard of Acker North. They were big in England and in Europe. I had only heard few of their songs which sounded good but I had never met any of the band members.
"Acker North is a quite famous British rock band," I said without any emotion. I was tried.
"Exactly." Mick said, giving me a smile. "And they're coming to LA to make a new record. So I talked to Thomas who happens to be the guitarist and singer of Acker North but also he's my old classmate and dear friend. And I also know Trevor and Aaron, they are in the band too. I thought as this studio is quite big we could maybe share it and have some fun together as we have enough recording booths for both our band and theirs. And maybe if you get to know them we could even tour together. They are bunch of fun people and I think we could use some company." Mick looked at me first with questioning eyes.
I really didn't think it was a splendid idea but Mick was right in some ways. I mean some different company sounded nice. Me and John had hit some rough times, so had Stevie and Lindsey and I knew that something was up with Mick and his wife too. "Well, if these guys are as nice and fun as you say, I'm okay with it. Of course as long as they won't start stealing our ideas or something."
Mick laughed and turned to John.
"John, what do you think?"
"Sure. Thomas seemed like a decent guy, I'm sure the rest are too."
"Stevie?"
Stevie looked unsure. "I don't know if it's a great idea. I mean we have lots to do here. But if you all are okay with them coming then I guess I'm too."
