Hermione tried not to seem too eager as she followed her childhood enemy down the hallway to his library.

Little did she know, he's been taking slight glanced back at her, catching that glint of excitement in her eye at the mention of books. Malfoy rolled his eyes, but smirked a bit, classic Granger.

The two walked down the stairs and past Narcissa's study, which was behind two glass doors. Hermione glanced in as they passed. The walls were a light gray, two leather arm chairs sat in front of Narcissa's dark wooden desk, a neat stack of papers sat to Narcissa's left, her quills organized in preference, her hand scrawling furiously over a piece of parchment, her lips pursed in concentration and her eyes narrowed in on the words she was writing.

Hermione turned to see Malfoy had already disappeared and started to panic. She sped up her pace, heading forward until she ran straight into something.

Or someone.

She stumbled back a couple steps and glanced up to see if there was an imaginary wall that decided to jump out. She was met by Malfoy's gray eyes that she had to force herself to look away from, for fear she might get lost in them and not be able to find her way out.

She blinked several times, looking up, down, practically anywhere other than the boy's pale face.

"Sorry," she mumbled, and slipped past him, turning where she had seen Malfoy come from and immediately gasped in surprise.

"Merlin's pants," she whispered in awe.

Before her stood one of the biggest libraries she'd ever seen. And it was inside a house! A set of french doors were opened, making what almost looked like a grand entryway into paradise. Shelf after shelf lined the walls, stood tall on the ground and there were books everywhere! Hermione spotted a few leather chairs scattered around the library and she grinned.

She was in seventh heaven.... when a blonde headed ferret decided to open his bloody mouth.

"Well, this should keep you busy for a couple of months, see you next Christmas," he said cheerfully behind her.

She couldn't comprehend his words at the moment, she was still trying to decide where to start.

She waved him off and nodded, "Uh huh, sure thing, Malfoy."

As soon as she uttered those words, she was off, grinning as she walked down the aisled, her fingertip running over the spines of the books as she passed.

She immediately was met by a navy blue hardcover book with elegant letters spelling out 'Beauty and the Beast'.

It had been her favorite as a child, she'd always begged her mum to read it to her before bed, never getting tired of the tale. After her mother would kiss her goodnight after reading to her, she'd dream about being Belle, dancing with the beast, eating with all the talking plates and cups.

She smiled at the memory and grabbed the book off the shelf, settling down in the nearest chair and flipping to the first page, her eyes scanning the pages hungrily, loosing herself in a world she knew and loved.

Draco shook his head as she practically ran into the library, like a kid running into a candy shop, determined to get the best kinds before all the other kids could take them. Except she was the only person in the room... and they were books.

Draco was about to turn away and leave her there, when curiosity got the best of him. He poked his head inside the library and when he didn't see her, frowned, but kept searching.

He got down three aisles of books before he found her lounged in one of the chairs. Her legs were swung over one of the arm rests, her back resting against the other. Her feet swung slightly, her shoes were off, leaving her bare feet to cross over each other and her toes curled whenever she'd adjust her position. Her wild hair was held together in a messy bun, curls spilling out of it like a broken sink. Her brown eyes were narrowed on the pages, like a staring contest, which I'm sure she'd win, her lips tugged up slightly at the corner. She'd occasionally lick her lips or play with her bottom lip between her teeth and her nose crinkled up in an adorable way when she was reading.

Draco stumbled back.

Wait, did he just call Granger adorable?

Technically, he called her nose cute, not her specifically.

Draco swallowed, shaking his head as he walked out of the library. No, there is no way that he would think of Hermione Granger anything but a goody two shoes, annoying, know it all.

Impossible.

Or was it?
