"Since we are going to be best friends forever, we should have a promise"He said with a smile

"What should the promise be about?"I asked with a smile

"Hmm–It should be for when we get older too"He said as we both thought

"Ooh!–How about when we get older If we get a boyfriend or girlfriend that we don't ever break apart or hurt each other"He said

"Yeah"I said with a smile as I stuck out my pinky

"Really pinky promise?"He said laughing as I pouted

"Yes"I said

"Fine I pinky promise"He said smiling as he locked his pinky with mine and after we pulled away

"Good cause tag you're it!"I said laughing as I ran off as Nick chased me

Nick and I come from Mrs.Kinder's Class as we went to our lockers which were right next to each other's as we both sighed closing the lockers as we then smiled at each other

"So pretty boy you ready for graduation?"I asked with a light smile

"Y/n the school year just started a day ago chill, only thing I'm ready for is my best friends birthday party she's turning 17"He said smiling nudging me as I lightly laughed

"Oh and who might that be?"I said with a smug smirk

"You of course"He said and gave me a side hug as my heart fluttered at seeing his smile

"You promise you'll be there?"I asked with a pout

"Of course I will I've never missed a single one even when I got sick I still FaceTimed you, and plus I wouldn't miss it for anything"He said

With that I believed him I knew he wouldn't miss it for anything

I've hated this entire week with a passion I haven't seen Nick after school once I've only seen him in school and even on the weekends I wasn't able to see him all because of his new precious girlfriend Mae

Right now I called Nick trying to talk to him about what we're gonna do after my birthday party or even before it as I got no answer.

I groaned and ran my hands through my hair as I put it in a ponytail

"Come on nick where are you all of a sudden?"I said sighing

"Come on nick where are you all of a sudden?"I hear Mae say laughing as we were at the carnival in the house of mirrors as my phone rang blowing my cover as I declined without looking at the name

"Got you!"She said surprising me as I jumped and then ended up laughing as I held her kissing her she was my main priority at the moment

I smile waving at all the guests and friends from school and family as I danced with most and sometimes I'd sneak off and call nick just to see if he'd pick up and not once did he

Not even a quick text to say he was busy as the final time I called him I left a message

"What a great best friend you are nick–Missing my birthday you promised me that you wouldn't miss it I hope whatever you're doing is more important"I said and hung up as I got up deciding to enjoy myself

I held Mae in my arms as we watched a movie and I couldn't help but to feel like I was forgetting something really important. It seemed so important that it ached my heart but I couldn't seem to remember. All that really mattered right now was spending time with my girlfriend.

I wake up to hearing loud knocking at the front door as I yawned going downstairs, I knew my parents left out for work so now I was just wondering who it was.

I opened the door to be immediately engulfed in a hug as I pushed back seeing who it was as I pushed the door close. I just wanted to hit him he just thinks he can show up

"I can't believe you Nick you're such a asshole!"I said pissed off

"I know I know I'm sorry Mae just wanted to-"

I scoff rolling my eyes as I felt tears starting to form in my eyes

"Of course it's fucking Mae"I said and threw my
Hands in the air pissed

"Oh wow, it's not my fault you're jealous!"He said

"Well maybe I am!"I said as my voice cracked as the tears started to fall as his face softened

"M–Maybe I'm jealous that I'm loosing you to a girl that you just met!, Maybe I'm just jealous that I haven't been able to spend any time with my so called best friend outside of school!"

"Or maybe I'm just pissed because my best friend missed my birthday..Maybe I'm just hurt nick that a girl you met a couple months ago can mean more than someone you've known for y-years"I said as my tears fell as he looked at me as I seen a tear roll down his cheek

"So you know what If She means more than you than I do maybe we shouldn't be best friends anymore we shouldn't even be friends"I said as my heart broke as I wiped away my tears

"I-I.."Nick was saying as he just sighed and stayed quiet

"Just let yourself out..Goodbye nick, I'll give you back all your things tomorrow"I said and the looked away as I went back upstairs into my room

I sat on my bed as all the pain made my chest hurt
