Frerard: a Chemical Romance

Part 1: The Beginning of the Beginning

Gerard, Mikey, and Ray sat at a bar in Belleville, New Jersey. The band playing, Pencey Prep, was almost through their fourth song of the night. The lead vocalist was, by Gerard's standards, extremely musically talented and quite cute. But the band was only performing because Gerard's band,  My Chemical Romance, couldn't play. Their drummer was down for the count and they couldn't get someone to fill in. But the bar was warm, as bars tend to be in the cold Januarys of New Jersey, the music was good, and the alcoholic drinks made up for the shitty barstools. 

"I'm re-living yesterday!" the lead vocalist of Pencey Prep screamed, energetically ripping out the final chords of their song on his guitar. He smiled charmingly and informed the bar that they would be taking a break. He jumped off his stool and set his guitar down, revealing that he was quite short. Gerard sighed and tasted his drink. He rejoined Mikey and Ray's conversation.

"So, what should we do after this?" Mikey asked as he adjusted his glasses.

"Dunno," replied Ray. He sipped his beer and gazed out the window at the snow. "But it's getting late. It's almost 10."

"We don't have a curfew anymore," Gerard reminded him. 

"We also don't want to wake our parents, dude." Mikey reflected on the time he missed curfew by over an hour. He shuddered at the memory. His mom was not happy.

"True," sighed Gerard. He looked over to the other side of the bar where the boy from Pencey Prep had seated himself and was reading a book. He looked so hot, but Gerard didn't want to disturb him.

"Man, I'm tired," yawned Ray. He finished his beer. "Wanna go home?"

"Sure," said Mikey. He stood up and picked up his coat.

"Alright," said Gerard. He glanced again at the boy. The band was scheduled to play the next week, so he'd be back then. The three guys left and made plans to meet there again the next week.
