Chapter 18: Godparents…

It was Noel’s and Shannon’s last stop before heading home. They were visiting an old friend of Noel’s…and Shannon had something very important to ask him.

Noel grinned as the front door snapped open. “Ange!”

“Noel? Holy crap!” Angelo stared, gobsmacked, at them; then he smiled. “Ah, and the lovely new wife!” He winked at Shannon. “Lovely to meet you Shan, he’s told me loads…but for some reason thought it’d be a bad idea for us to meet until now…I wonder why…” he trailed off, smirking at Noel.

“Can’t imagine why he’d think it a bad idea…” Shannon smirked as well and laughed as Noel glared at the both of them playfully.

 “Wow…come in! Come in!” he ushered them inside and into the TV area. “Kelly! You remember Noel!” he beamed as Shannon looked around curiously. “And this is Shan…Shannon? Shan? Which do you prefer?”

“Anything but Shanny is fine.” Shannon smiled as she looked from Angelo to Kelly.

“Well…we actually can’t stay very long.” Noel interjected. “Plane to catch later and all…”

“Oh, yes…” Shannon nodded and then rolled her eyes a little. “Um…Angelo…might I borrow you a moment?”

“Ah…sure.” He half frowned-half smirked as he led her out the back. “What’s up?”

“I have something…rather important to ask…” Shannon trailed off. “Of you and then of Kelly if you think it’s a good idea.”

“Okay, fire away.” Angelo folded his arms and smiled.

Shannon sighed softly and then smiled. “I’m having a baby…”

“Congratulations! Oh, that bastard never said a word!” Angelo all but shouted. “That’s awesome! Boy or girl?”

“Don’t know yet…kinda want it to be a surprise.” Shannon smiled sheepishly as he nodded in agreement. “But…I wanted to ask if…you would be our child’s godfather…” Shannon bit her lip. “You’re one of Noel’s best mates and I couldn’t think of anyone better…and, if she’d like…I’d love Kelly to be the godmother…” Shannon paused, judging Angelo’s expression…he looked shocked. “It’s fine if you’d rather not…” she quickly added but he cut her off.

“That’s fucking awesome! We’d frigging love to!” Angelo cried as Noel and Kelly appeared at the back door. “Hey, babe…we’re godparents!”

“You’re expecting?” Kelly smiled, slapping Noel’s arm when Shannon nodded. “You sly dog, you never dropped a word!” Kelly laughed with Shannon as she came over and hugged her. “We’d love to.”

As Shannon pulled out of the hug she smiled, so happy she was almost in tears. “You’ve no idea how happy that’s made me…” she looked over at Noel who looked as happy as she was. “And it looks like Noel feels the same way…”

{4 months later…}

Shannon laughed happily. Angelo and Kelly had come out to England to visit them…and hopefully be around for the baby to be born, and both Shannon and Noel were glad of the company. Shannon had even brought her sisters over for Easter break, and they were all enjoying themselves tremendously.

Shannon smiled over at Noel as her sister Ash whispered into her ear, both of them giggling as Noel narrowed his eyes at them as they stood and made their way into the kitchen.

“Oh, I’m so glad you’re here Ash…I’ve missed your sense of humour.” Shannon sighed as she leant back against the kitchen counter.

“Really?” Ash smirked. “Well then…What do you call a belt made of clocks?”

Shannon smirked. “A waist of time.” Both girls laughed…until Shannon let out an alarmed sound. “Um…okay…nobody panic…” she began softly. “But either I peed myself…or my water just broke…”

“Oh…um…Noel?” Ash called out, but yelled loudly when he didn’t respond quickly. “NOEL!”

“What?!” Noel asked, suddenly at the kitchen door. “Shan…you okay?”

“Yeah…just…grab the suitcase and the keys…” Shannon winced as she felt a small contraction. “Ash, grab Jess…” she sighed as Ash and Angelo helped her out of the apartment and into the car. “This is gonna be a long night…”
