Chapter 6 – Up in the attic with a player

As I let my eyes flutter open I hear a commotion downstairs.

Letting my curiosity get the best of me, I get up and go downstairs to see what all the fuss is about.

“It has to be her mum. I can think of no other explanation that would fit this situation. Have you looked at her closely?” I hear Michael rant.

“But she’s dead! Has been for the past 14 years. Please, don’t start this now, you don’t want her finding out and thinking that the reason why we adopted her was because she has the same name as our dead daughter.” Mum says back to Michael.

What the heck are they going on about? And a dead daughter???

Before I could go on listening, my mind tells me that its time to ‘wake up’ because I may find out more and not like what I hear.

I yawn and walk into the kitchen in my pjay shorts and crop top.

“Morning everyone!” I say, hiding my reaction to what I just heard well.

“Well, well. Sleeping beauty is finally awake.” Jack says, making me all too aware that all the boys are sitting in the kitchen and I am in pyjamas.

Covering my shock I roll my eyes and flip my blonde bangs out of my eyes.

A low whistle told me that that another male presence had come onto the scene.

Alec, to be exact.

“She even looks hot when she wakes up.” He comments.

God, this guy is such a player.

That’s too bad though, because I just don’t do players. I don’t like to be toyed with.

“Why thank you. That is something every girl wants to hear.” I say and make myself look slightly flustered.

My many years of acting and loads of practice has taught me to only show emotions I want seen and if I need to, fake them and I can fool even the best of people.

Especially guys.

Jack groaned.

“Ri, you promised!”

I pout.

“But Jaaaack! Its just a little game were playing, we are only fooling around, right Alec?” I ask, turning to him.

“Of course.” Alec says.

Good boy.
