"Al washes 6 minutes, Fred washes the same car in 8 minutes. How long will it take Al and Fred to wash the car together?"Feeny asked.
"Piece of cake."Cory said.
"Think about it Mr. Matthews."Feeny said.
"I don't have to think about it Mr.Feeny. It's simple."Cory said.
"It's anything, but simple."Feeny said.
"But i've got the answer."Cory said.
"I'm not interested in the answer."Feeny said.
"Why not?"Cory asked.
"Because i'm more interested how you got the answer.And you couldn't have possibly gotten the right answer so rapidly."Feeny said
"But I did! I've arrived.I'm here. I'm ahead of ya."Cory said
"Oh well then if your ahead of me what is the answer?"Feeny asked.
"7."Cory and Feeny said at the same time.
"That's not the correct answer."Feeny said
"But it has to be.Al sped Fred up.Fred slows Al down. So the answer has to be half way between 6 and 8. 7"Cory said
"That's not the correct answer."Feeny and Cory said at the same time.
"But it has to be."Cory said.
"No it doesn't."Minkus said.Minkus then walked in front of Cory's desk.
"Why not?"Cory asked.
"Fred can slow Al down even if Al washes most of the car and Fred washes a hub cap. The totally time still has to be faster then Al's time alone.You with me?"Minkus asked
"So if Fred's 25% slower then Al then 25% of 6 minutes is..Anybody? It's a minute and a half. Which leads us with 4. 5. 4 and a half minutes is the correct answer.Hold your applause please".Minkus said
I rolled my eyes and mumbled."Show off."
Minkus then went back to his seat.
"Mr.Minkus your wrong," Feeny said.
I laughed and looked up."Thank you, god for gracing me with this moment."
"Wrong as in not right?"Minkus asked.
"You know the law of averages better then I do. It was bound to catch up to you."Feeny said
Minkus stood up and began to leave.
"Where are you going?"Feeny said
"Nurse."Minkus said.
Minkus left and Shawn and I started to chuckle.
"Minkus you're wrong,"Shawn said
"I've been waiting to hear those words since preschool."Cory said
"I have dreamt of this day my entire life."I said
"Does anyone else have any thoughts on this problem?"Feeny asked
Topanga started to hum.
"I'm channeling the ancient Egyptian mathematician who first solved this problem," Topanga said.
Cory, Shawn and I looked at the sky confused.
Topanga then started to gurgle while writing.
Shawn snapped his fingers."Check please."
"All right Ms.Lawrence let's see what you've come up with."Feeny said looking at her notebook."Well, oddly enough you and your metaphysical lab partner have arrived at the correct answer."
