Chapter 8: Confession Time

*** "I love you, Miranda, and I want you to be my girlfriend. Please, please say yes. You know I would take good care of you and treat you better than any other guy would. Just give me a chance, please."

"Oh my god. I had no idea you felt this way about me."

"I always have, ever since that first day we met."

"Why now? Why are you telling me now?"

"Because I can't keep hiding my feelings for you, they grow bigger and bigger by the second and every moment we are apart kills me. I love you so much, will you please be my girlfriend."

"Of course, Josh, of course I'll be your girlfriend!" The look on his face when I said yes was full of excitement and joy. He couldn't help but attack me and wrap his masculine arms around my body.

He slowly backed away far enough to be able to see my face while still holding me. It felt like we were staring at each other's eyes for hours. He broke our romantic little staring contest when he looked down at my lips and then back at my eyes again. He leaned in and right before we were going to kiss....***

~BAM~

"Oww!" When I opened my eyes I saw my brother holding a small plastic baseball bat in his hands. "Why did you just hit me with a baseball bat!"

"It's a toy baseball bat" was he seriously trying to justify himself right now?

"Well why did you hit me with it!"

"My mom told me to wake you up"

"You couldn't have just shook me a little until I woke up?!"

"I could've, but this seemed more fun." He smirked. That little he-devil better sleep with one eye open tonight!

"Get out!" I was literally about to take that baseball bat from him and shove it up his ass. I'm not really mad that he hit me with it, I'm more mad that he interrupted my dream about Josh Hutcherson.

HE WAS ABOUT TO KISS ME!

Sometimes I hate life. Still, I got up and got dressed for school. I was so excited to be going back and seeing my friends fir the first time in about 3 weeks. I talked to them a few times on the phone over winter break but my friends are the type of people who are more fun to talk to in person.

I missed having them around. I couldn't wait to give Jasmin her Christmas gift that I got her. Sure it was already the new year but it's never a bad time to receive a gift.

I grabbed my new pair of dark denim skinny jeans that my sister got me for Christmas and my light blue long sleeve v-neck and headed to the restroom to change. It was only January 9th so it was still a bit cold outside, but not that cold considering I live in Los Angeles. I put on socks and my black vans and went downstairs to get my backpack and Jasmin's present then waited for my sister to drive me and my brother to school.

"Oh my gosh! I love it so much! Thank you so much Miranda!"

Jasmin was obviously pleased with the charm bracelet I got her. "I'm glad you like it and, oh, I almost forgot!" I pulled out a second box that was identical to the one I gave Jasmin. "I got myself one too, so I was thinking it could be like a best friend charm bracelet kind of thing." I was hoping she liked the idea, otherwise I would just look stupid.

"It's perfect! Best friend charm bracelets! YAYYYYY!" And with that, she attacked me with a hug. I didn't mind, she gave the best hugs.

"I'm so happy that you like it!"

"I absolutely love it! thank you so much! It's not as good as my present for you though." She said taking out a small, flat, poorly wrapped gift. She got me something?

"You didn't have to get me anything."

"Shut up and open it already!"

"Okay, okay geez." I ripped off the wrapping paper and my eyes immediately widened at the site.

"Are you kidding me?! Where did you ever find this!" I held up the new Avenged Sevenfold album. I had been looking all over for this CD and couldn't find it in any store. A7X is one if my favorite bands, actually, probably my favorite.

"Amazon. They have everything on amazon." Her smile was so big and I couldn't stop myself from practically squeezing her to death.

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!"

"No sweat. And thank YOU for your gift, it's do beautiful and looks expensive so you know I'll be taking good care of it." We let go of each other and and started to laugh.

"Should we go rub it in Cesar's face that I got the CD before he did?" I already knew what she was going to say.

"You know me too well. Let's go!" Yup, I knew it. I swear, we are so alike that it's scary sometimes.

"Hey Cesar! Look what Jasmin got me for Christmas!"

"WHAT THE FXCK! Where did you even find the CD! I looked in practically every music shop within a 5 mile radius of my house!" He had a shocked and jealous look on his face. It was kind of cute.

"Amazon, I swear, am I the only one who goes online shopping?" Jasmin is so sarcastic at times.

"Apparently not anymore. I'm ordering it right now!" Cesar pulled out his phone and started typing away.

"So how was everyone's break?" Jose asked, trying to start a conversation that we should have had in nutrition but nobody could find each other in the student union, it was way too packed for some reason.

While everyone started to talk about how they spent their break, I remembered about the deal I made with Brian. It's been 3 and a half months since we decided to be friends and see what happens, but I got over trying to be more than friends with him a long time ago. It's been great, we get along so well with each other and I'm happy to say that he is one of my closets friends.

I snap back to reality and realize that everyone is still talking about their breaks. I noticed Brian call me over from the opposite side if the table so I walked over to see what was up.

"Hey what's up?" I asked.

"That's it? I haven't seen you in 3 weeks and you just say 'what's up'? No. Get over here." He said pulling me into a hug.

"Hahaha I missed you too dude." I laughed, hugging him back. It feels so good to be around him and not have to worry about if I'm saying the right thing or if I look presentable.

"Hey, so I have a question." He sounded kind of concerned.

"Oh, you do? What's wrong? Are you okay?" I couldn't help but be kind of worried.

"Do you remember in the first week of school when I said that we should wait until after winter break and see where things went?" I knew where this was going, he probably thought I still had a crush in him.

"Oh don't worry! I don't think of you in that way anymore. I see you as one of my best friends." I said honestly.

"This isn't about how you feel, Miranda. To tell you the truth, when I first met you I thought you were really pretty and I wanted to get to know you better before I could go any further with you. And now that I've gotten to know you better," he leaned in closer and put a hand on my shoulder, "I realize that I like you, a lot, and want to be with you."
