ALAIZA'S POV
I woke up, it was Wednesday. I made quick plans in my mind when my alarm took off. I got ready in a jiffy, took bath in 5 minutes, wore plain clothes and skipped my breakfast too.
Whoop! All because I wanted to pick Melainie up from her house, Melainie was unaware that I was coming. Surprise visits, I do that often. You never know. I left the house early, no one was in the living room, I guess aunt was upset since last evening. Blimey, I totally forgot about that! I wrote a quick note saying, ''I'm sorry for whatever happened yesterday. I wasn't very happy about how things were going on recently between me and Melainie. I got emotional, that's all. You're the most caring aunt, like ever. Forget whatever I blurted out in anger yesterday, I didn't mean it. I love you, so! I'll be back early today. Bye, bye''
I walked on the pavement, the sky wasn't bright, it was greyish-blue. Very gloomy indeed. My sneakers scraped on the ground. The wind was chilly, I prickled all over. I made my way to Melainie's place. I reached there in 5 minutes. I waited outside, leaning on their mailbox. I waited, waited and waited.
Finally, she came out and her expression was priceless, it was that of astonishment.
''Melainie!" I said, throwing my arms round her.
''Hey.'' Melainie said, not reacting.
''Still angry?''
"No, I don't care about you or whatever you did.''
''Alright, you are angry. I'm sorry, LayLay. What you did was not very pleasant too, was it?''
''Hmm.'' Melainie was softening up.
''I love you, Melainie. You're my only best friend.''
''I love you too, but it's different.'' She shrugged and walked away.
''What do you mean by it's different?'' I raised an eyebrow.
''Nothing, I'm just kidding, don't be daft. silly!'' She laughed and raised her hand for a high-five.
''Whatever, come on, walk. We don't want to be late for school, do we? Walk on.'' I said, high-fiving her back.
''Okay, let me be a little bit understanding. You love Josh?''
''Umm, DUH!''
''OK, you want to be with him?''
''DUH, MELAINIE, DUH!"
"Enough with the DUH, Alaiza. OK, I'll tell you what I feel.''
''Ah huh, go on. I'm listening.''
''First off, I'm scared of losing you. You're my best friend, in fact, more than that. I love you a lot. And then, Josh is a playboy. He can never love anyone, seriously. I don't like him too.''
''Awwwwwwww.'' I hugged her.
''Yeah, yeah. So are you changing your mind?'' Melainie said, brightening up.
''Noooo!'' I laughed.
And the rest of the day passed just like that, us being our normal selves.
