Media class whizzed by and before I knew it, it was already lunch. As I entered the cafeteria, I couldn't help but count my blessings. I was so fortunate to have met Ashleigh not only because she turned out to be such a hystericaly yet sweet friend, she also gave me a sense of comfort. The cafeteria was enormous and buzzing with students who had already formed cliques. As per any school with a bunch of teenagers, you had a division of populars - or the pops as we call them here - vs the invisibles. I never had been part of the pops and frankly speaking I never wanted to even if I could. The amount of drama between these people make the Kardashians look decent. It was disgusting.

So me and Ashleigh took a seat at an empty table and started chattering away. It's pretty amazing how she and I seem to be able to get along so easily. We could talk about anything under the sun.

"Hah doesn't this feel like how we met. You and I and an empty table," she reminisced.

"You act as if we met a year ago! Haha but yeah it seems to be our thing doesn't it?" I said as I pulled out my packed lunch. It wasn't much of a lunch though, I just loved to bring biscuits to munch on.

"Actually, it's not 'your thing' at all. This is our table, so scram," an awfully high-pitched voice sneered.

Apparently, people interrupting me when I'm at empty tables also seems to be 'my thing'.

"Really? That's pre-school talk you know? 'That's mine and you can't have it!'" I mocked, adding a babyish voice for the last line.

Seriously though, how childish could you get?

The girl with the annoying soprano voice scowled. Grant it, she did look like an A-list celebrity and it's amazing how she did because we were practically wearing the same thing. She was wearing the standard black blazer and skirt. The only difference was her lavender blouse that perfectly tied her look together. Speaking of tying, her hair was tied up in an elegant braid down her left shoulder. She definitely made me look like a sack of potato. Still, that didn't give her the right to boss me around.

As I stood up to show her I wasn't going to back down, a guy from beside her stepped between the two of us. He was gigantic. He was a good one head taller than me and he was literally staring me down. Now, as you might have already known, my fear is not affected even if it was a guy. However, this was a special case. He radiated superiority and everything about him screamed 'deadly' and I wasn't sure if I wanted to doubt my instincts about this.

So despite my colossal ego, I scooped my things, huffed, flipped my hair and went over to the next vacant table. I reckoned the best I could do to keep my ego intact was to avoid looking back at those childish morons. After all, I was pretty sure I heard a shrill snigger as I stormed away. Unfortunately, I couldn't even clinch onto that last shred of dignity I had.

"Oh my, isn't he the most suave nightmare you've ever seen?" Ashleigh whispered as she snuck a peak past me at the table we were at.

"What are you talking about Ash?" I inquired, exasperated.

"Turn around and see for yourself."

"Why would I do that?"

"Just do it!"

"No!"

"C'mon Layles!"

"Forget it Ash."

"Laylaaaaa..."

"Ash people are staring"

"Look!"

"Fine!"

I slowly turned my head around to look at what the big fuss Ashleigh was making about. Huge mistake. I locked eyes with the intimidating guy from before. Only this time, he wasn't standing anymore. He was leaning back in his chair with his feet propped on the table. How rude! I quickly darted my eyes away to look for this 'suave nightmare' Ashleigh was harping on about before it finally dawned on me that Ashleigh was referring to him. Oh wow Ashleigh. I could see what she meant by nightmare: the apathetic expression, badass black leather jacket and the coiffed hair were all dead giveaways. Yet I couldn't see what she meant by suave? I don't know, maybe I was too distracted by the fact that he was going to rip me to shreds.
