Unable to catch yourself some sleep, you hastily pulled the blanket off, scratching your head, before sneaking out of your tent. The camp was dead silent, crickets practically filled in as sounds. The boys drifted off to their dreamland, while you.. well, you just can't seem to be in the mood to greet it just yet.
As you continued to explore Neverland, the stunning view of the said island never fails to amaze you. It was dark, but overall, a little lighting here and there can't hurt at all.
Sitting down on a tall hill, you admired the stars, the glimmering light shining the ocean, causing a breathtaking view. It was almost impossible to leave this place. And it wasn't only because of its glamorous scenery.
Everyone treated you like you were home, a part of their family. You were welcomed, better than anyone ever did back home. Most of all, Neverland's prince gave you a chance to feel what you've always desired; love. You smiled, merely daydreaming of his cheeky smile, and beautiful sparkly eyes. You fell for him, and you fell pretty hard.
Your thoughts were interrupted, when you heard some wood, rustling in the dark. Whipping your head towards the direction of the sound, you slowly stood from your spot, trembling just lightly.
"Is... anyone there?"
Gasping once more, when the same noise responded, you were almost ready to dash off, until a voice stopped you... a girl's voice?
"...H..elp! ...Pl..ease..!"
It was faint, but not enough to stop you from following it. Whoever it was, she needed help, and now. Ignoring the pain you felt from all the branches that scratched you, your feet couldn't find the will the stop running. You panted for breath, almost ready to stop to catch some air, but the voice was very close.
"Hello? Help..! Please!"
Wood, shaking. Only a few more steps, until you've encountered it. Your eyes widened, looking up to find a cage, hovering just above you.
"I'm here! Please.. just hold on!"
Frantically, you looked around for any tools, anything, to bring this cage down. Your eyes caught the sight of a knot up to where the cage hung. Climbing up, under a trembling figure, you quickly attempted to remove the tight knot, fingers slightly red as you continued.
"Got -it!"
You felt the rope slip through your hand, but you've kept a good grip on it. By then, your whole hand, and arm was wounded. But that didn't stop you from lowering the cage slowly, wanting to rescue this girl & kept her from getting injured.
With a small exhale, you jumped down from the tree, and proceeded to unlock the cage. The said girl popped her head out, and with ease, you assisted her out of her cage.
"Thank you, so much."
She smiled sincerely, and you nodded. She noticed the blood on her arms, where you held her, then at hands. Her eyes widened, as she stood up to look for some medicine.
"Wait here.."
You were far too fatigued to even move a finger. Leaning your back against the tree, you allowed for your lids to drop, as you fell into your deep slumber.
-
Yawning, you groggily opened your eyes, but was somewhat confused with the sudden different surroundings, until the events from last night hit you. Averting your gaze to your hands, you were surprised to see them bandaged up, and tended.
"Oh, you're awake. Good morning."
You turned your head, to meet the smile of a blonde girl who was merely in a dress, possibly only for sleepwear.
"G-Good morning, uh..?"
"Wendy. My name is Wendy Darling."
"Nice to meet you, Wendy."
Her smile suddenly faltered, as her gaze shifted to your bandaged hands. You glanced at her in concern.
"Something wrong?"
"I-It's just that.. It's my fault why your hands are like that. I'm sorry." She apologized. You, on the other hand, merely raised a brow at her sudden peculiarity.
"Why would you apologize? I'd rather you're free and content."
Her smile returned. You would've grinned as well, if it wasn't for her next statement.
"So, you're the owner of the heart of the truest believer?"
"P-Pardon?"
Wendy's brows furrowed in confusion, but she could see that you were far from kidding.
"Pan never told you, did he? He's dying. And the only way for him to save himself, is to obtain that heart.. your heart."
...
You mean..
He used you?
..played with you?
Just so he could save himself?
Swallowing a lump in your throat, you were unable to respond. Tears escaped your eyes, pain struck against your chest, and you could feel yourself grow weaker. The pain from your hand was incomparable to the pain you felt inside. Wendy nearly spoke up, but she quickly sealed her lips, when you let out a silent laugh.
Who were you to actually think that Peter Pan himself would fall in love with you? Absurd.
You love him- no, loved.
He was selfish, and you were blinded through devious actions. He won the game, he got everything.
He didn't need to obtain your heart.
He already had it.
