I kicked the pine cone in front of me as I lifted the hood a bit higher over my head. Pansy walked ahead of me by about five metres, my older sister, Daphne, by her side.
They were hoping to bump into Draco Malfoy or maybe even Blaise Zabini. They were obsessed with Draco’s group to say the least. Me? I could care less but the again – as arrogant as it sounds – I need some Slytherin to be my friend.
The minute I was born my father expected five things of me: for me to become a Slytherin, for me to become a Death Eater, for me to marry a pure-blooded Slytherin boy, for me to have pure-blooded Slytherin friends and for me to take great interest in the dark arts.
I have 0% interest in the dark arts but around my father, it’s not so hard to pretend. I am a Slytherin, as he wanted me to be. I have pure-blooded Slytherin friends, as he wanted me to be. I am a Death Eater, I have been ever since the end of my sixth year, last year.
I’m starting my seventh year at Hogwarts but this year Snape is supposed to be headmaster. We don’t have any idea what’s going on but father and the other Death Eater’s told me to just go to Hogwarts and wait. I didn’t get anything special that I had to do, like Draco did.
Speak of the Devil and he shall appear, Daphne giggled as Pansy whispered in her ear and the ran up to the oh-so-familiar platinum blonde haired boy.
He really had changed since his first year. His hair was no longer slicked back, it was actually quite messy as if he had ran his hands through it dozens of times. He was about a foot or so taller than he had been, whereas I had only grown about three inches since my first year. He really was handsome, shame he always had to ruin it with that smug smile, telling you he knew it.
“Hi Draco,” Daphne giggled as Pansy emphasised his name in a sugary tone. Worse than Umbridge herself, I inwardly grimaced. Draco smirked as he let both his arms fall over the two girls shoulders as they giggled again. Crabbe and Goyle stood there, arms crossed and Blaise was looking at me with open arms.
Blaise was just about the only one I can stand, Draco with his smugness, Crabbe and Goyle just doing... well, nothing. I walked into his open arms and gave him a tight hug. I had last seen him on the day we both got our dark mark.
As I pulled out of the hug, I gave Blaise a quick kiss on the cheek to which he blushed. I smiled at how adorable he was, so innocent around girls, especially compared to Draco.
“Crabbe. Goyle,” I gave them both a nod of acknowledgement whilst saying their name. It would be weird to call them Vincent and Gregory, even Draco doesn’t call them that. They’re just two very awkward teenage boys.
“Malfoy,” I said coldly, sending him my best death glare. I was angry at the fact he had gotten the roll of Slytherin quidditch captain. I had gotten it last year since Draco had resigned but this year it was his. My father said girls shouldn’t be playing quidditch, they should be dating people who play quidditch but I didn’t listen to him.
“Oh come on, Astoria. I thought we were on better terms than that,” Draco teased, lifting his arms up slightly leaving his elbows to rest on the girl’s shoulders. They giggled again and I was ready to rip one of their heads off. What is up with all this giggling?! It’s SO annoying! And Draco is pissing me off as well. “What, no kiss on the cheek for me?”
I rolled my eyes, gritted my teeth and folded my arms across my chest. Draco let out a chuckle, obviously enjoying my anger. I didn’t always fight with Draco, I just didn’t always get along with him either. He was just such an annoyance! It’s not my fault I can’t stand him.
“Girls, I thought we were going to Knockturn Alley?” I asked, tapping my foot impatiently. I knew I should have asked Millicent Bulstrode, Janice Rowen or even Sandy Harris! These girls were obsessed with Draco’s crowd, I should have known I could probably have asked Blaise to come with me and had less of a chance of running into Draco.
