Emotions overwhelmed Vincent. Fear? Guilt?
It was by far more awful than simply just that.

The reality of the situation hit him so hard that for a brief moment, after his father-in-law left, he couldn't respond to anything else around him.

There was a dangerously large chance that Vincent could lose her but why did it trouble him?
He was certain he didn't care.

Though this was his reasoning until after a few days had passed, he found himself being eaten bit by bit by the acidic solitude she had left him.
The shame turned into a prison that isolated himself from everyone and everything.
Vincent was slowly being suffocated by the realization of what he had done.

He missed her.
The young woman that never treated him poorly.
He had been too proud to even give her chance.

Solitude alone reminded him of his shame through the haunting silences of each day.

The days passed on dreadfully, an exact copy of the previous day passing with the momentum of ship on sea.
