Papa How's everything going at the Institute?
Me Maryse is driving me crazy and now there is this new girl that I just can't stand.
I replied to Papa almost right away and started eating my food that didn't look as delicious as Merissa made it sound.
"Who are you texting?" Jason asked me. I looked up at him and he looked concerned, almost like texting someone here was a bad thing.
"My Papa, Alec." I shortly replied and continued eating my food. Are they sure this is spaghetti?
"Just try it, Amanda. You might actually like it and if you don't, I will personally take you out to eat tomorrow after your training." Merissa reached over the table from where she was sitting across from me and shoved my plate closer to me.
"That's really tempting but if I try this, I might not be alive tomorrow to go out with you."
"It's not like Izzy cooked it." I looked to my right and saw my Uncle Jace taking a seat next to me.
"At least if Izzy would have made it, the death would be quick and painless, well not for your taste buds but I'm sure you'll be fine." I turned to my left to see my Aunt Clary, eating a salad and I was dying to ask her where she got it. "Maryse cooks the spaghetti here and no, there is no more salad. I stash away salad for times like these where I don't want to die a painful death."
"If Maryse made it then I definitely don't want to eat it. She probably poisoned it to kill me slowly." I responded and moved the food around with my fork. "That woman truly scares me and you wanna know what makes it worse?"
"What can possibly be worse than Maryse Lightwood?" Jace asked.
"Bridget." I know that Uncle Jace and Aunt Clary adopted her but she is so rude.
"You need to let her get to know you. She struggles with social skills sometimes. Its hard for her since we adopted her only a year ago. Bridget saw her own parents get murdered by a rouge warlock." Jace turned to me and looked me straight in the eye. "She is just a scared little girl."
"She sure struggles with social skills. Her way of making friends is insulting their parents."
"Bridget is just jealous that you have parents and she doesn't." Clary said. She pushed around her half eaten salad and then shoved it towards me. "Here, have the rest, I'm full." Gladly, I thought to myself. Better eating that than anything Maryse cooks.
"I know it must be hard for someone to lose their parents like that and to see it too, but she needs to stop bringing others down with her. She insulted my papa and I should have just punched her in the face right then and there." I shoveled the salad into my mouth and took a quick drink of water. I didn't realize I was that hungry until now.
Papa I know it must be hard for you but it's just 2 weeks and then you are back at the house.
Me If only 2 weeks could come faster.
"Now who are you texting?" Jason asked. I glared at him and sent the text.
"Why do you care?"
"I care because if Maryse catches you texting someone you shouldn't be then she will have your head. That someone being a downworlder. She hates downworlders, says she mostly hates warlocks for something that happened like twenty years ago, but I don't know all the details. She doesn't like to talk about it."
"He's talking about the time when Alec was supposed to marry Lydia but Magnus was able to convince him not to. More like Magnus showed up to the wedding and Alec froze and Lydia literally said that he should be happy and I feel like she knew Alec wouldn't be happy unless he was with Magnus." Jace said and continued to eat. I leaned in closely to Jace's ear, hoping that no one would hear me.
"Does Maryse hate me because I am a warlock and Magnus is my dad?" Jace looked at me and quickly replied.
"Maryse hates everyone."

Sorry this was so short. It was roughly 688 words but it was mostly a filler chapter where Kylie was able to get to make friends with Merissa and Jason. It also was to help you get to know Bridget's back story. The next update won't be for awhile so I hope you guys have an amazing day.
