A District Two Story

Chapter 6

I see a bow right in the mouth of the cornucopia. I run for it. I need a weapon to get me to it, though. I grab a knife that is on the edge. I stabbed an older girl in the stomach and a young boy in the chest and hear two cannons. I got the bow and shot one more girl before everyone else ran. I heard seven cannons go off, that means there are only seventeen tributes left.

The gamemakers must have choosen to make night come early, because just an hour after the bloodbath the sun went down and the stars came out. That was when Jemma, Carter, and I set up camp in the cornucopia. There was plenty of supplies left in it. We found four blankets, a box of matches, seven knives, a bow and fourteen arrows, a sword, a spear, and enough food and water to feed all three of us for week.

We sit out under the stars, waiting to see who died today. When the capitol music started playing we looked up and saw the faces of the girls from districts 7, 3, and 9. The boys from 5 and 6 and both tributes from 12. "Well, I guess I'll take watch tonight." Carter said. "Ok. Jemma and I will go to bed then." I replied. Jemma and I went back into the cornucopia, grabbed the blankets, and went to sleep.

We woke up to the sound of a cannon, now we are down to sixteen. Jemma decides we should probably go see if there was anyone dumb enough to light a fire.We head into the towards up mountian when we see smoke coming from behind a small, snow covered mountain. It is really cold this morning. I am glad our outfits had the jacket with it. We found a girl and boy next to a small fire. I think they were from 11, the boy looked like he was 15. The girl was 14, her name was Wheat. I remember her interview. I shot the boy in the chest and Carter stabbed Wheat in the stomach, with his spear. Two cannons went off and we ran back to the cornucopia to get some food.
